I had purchased a LG twin door refrigerator Model No. GRT232 GP 5.8 years back. 2008 April was the last month of the 5-year warranty on the refrigerator. Fortunately my fridge stopped working before April 2008 and I lodged a complaint. The technician came and said some small part near compressor needs to be changed. After changing still was not cooling. Then said gas needs to be refilled. Still did not work until finally they said compressor needs to be replaced. Since it was in warranty they replaced the compressor.
Exactly after 8 months my fridge stopped cooling and I lodged a complaint only to find that the compressor was out of order again. When I told the LG technician he casually said compressors can get damaged anytime and that it was nothing unusual.
He now says I need to replace the compressor for an expense of Rs. 4000/- with only one month guarantee. I asked the technician what is the guarantee that the new replaced compressor will work fine ? He again said Company provides only one month guarantee and it is quite possible that the second month or anytime thereafter the compressor may stop working.
This is real absurd argument. Firstly the replacement under warranty itself was faulty or old compressor.And now even if i shell out Rs. 4000/- I do not know if it will last even for 3-4 months or even less.
I feel consumers are being cheated in broad day-light and the company simply shies away from its responsibilities when it comes to durability of consumer products.
Please do not buy LG refrigerators not that I had a bitter experience but simply because we all must stop the company from cheating us.
I am planning to dump this fridge and go for a new one and for sure a better brand than LG. Was this information helpful? |
