[Resolved]  Dogs — Problems with street dogs

lots of stray dogs are creating noise by barking especially during nights. Also they chase all the residents including children. The residents are living with constant fear.

In my locality there is a group of ferocious dogs and they come to us make a peculiar sound which make us feel bad of dogs and some time come to bite us and we cannot tolerate them .And before two days the dog had bitten a small boy and while morning i use to go to music class and during that time they use to come and bite me .And so, please regard my request and come and get the dogs as soon as possible.I would like to notice that there are 3 black dogs, 3 white dogs and they are very ferocious

I am Kumar from sithalapakkam(near medavakkam)., we are facing so much of problems in our street bcoz of street dogs.,

The stray dogs are killing the chickens and goats that we are rearing and sometimes it even bites the cows and calfs.

It is high time to vacate or kill the road side dogs at perumbakkam site because they are acting very ferociously and being an public disturbance. Today when I came from office I saw around 12 dogs trying to kill a calf and the calf was full of blood because those dogs bit it in ears, near legs. The calf cant even walk and it lay down. I saw that and started throwing stones over the dogs but they did not ran away far but waiting for me to move from that place to kill the calf. I pour some water on the calf and tried to wake it up and dropped at near by location where there were group of cows gathered. Please take necessary action to remove such kind of idiotic dogs from perumbakkam sowmiyanagar location. There are too many people written their plight with the dogs and the vile encounters with the mongrel.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am residing in Chennai, Adambakkam New colony(Landmark:Police Station). We have more than 10-12 street dogs in and around of this area. Last month there was a guy from corporation for catching up a dog which has remained as a challenge to the pedestrians.After a week or so it returned back and now again it remains a nuisance. 2 days back a dog entered our street and it behaved very violently/furiously at night. Nobody wants to go out in nights because of this problem, I am writing this with high/serious note for concerned authorities to take action. Please allow children/women to roam freely in the streets without fear of dogs.Please take action immediately.

Sir, I'm a resident at Golden George nagar, Nerkundram... We are facing a lot of problems with the stray dogs for months together... No one is taking action against them... We are not able to sleep peacefully at all.. They shout loudly all the night ... No one is able to sleep... The small children are afraid and are not evn able to sleep... We have tried complaining many of them.. But there was no use.. Please do something sir... Pls... It's been months we all slept well in the nights...

sir i am living mandaveli area NORTON STREET WHERE we find lot of street dogs borging through out the night and chasing in the morning at 4 to 6 am while going for milk buying.

kindly look into it and take care for catching in and around area of norton street near Dr. Ramakrishnan and also 4th trust cross street.

Mayor M. Subramanian on Saturday launched the Chennai Corporation’s
four-digit helpline 1913 for people to register their complaints
regarding civic amenities.

While landline users can call the number without prefixing the area code, mobile phone users will have to prefix 044.

The Mayor said the four-digit number was easier to remember compared to
the existing eight-digit numbers. At present, the helpline is not toll
free.

A few other cities also use 1913 to receive civic complaints. The number
bears significance for Chennai as Ripon Building, the Corporation’s
headquarters, was inaugurated in 1913.

In November, the Corporation had launched an SMS-based helpline
([protected]) for mobile phone users. Since its launch, the civic agency
has received 1, 560 complaints of which 1, 209 pertained to the
Corporation alone. The other complaints pertained to issues concerning
other agencies such as Chennai Metrowater. Such complaints were
forwarded by the Chennai Corporation to the agencies concerned.

Once an SMS (text message) is received, an automatically generated
acknowledgement message with a complaint identification number is sent
in response.

Text messages are stored in an SMS data base and forwarded to the
department concerned of the civic agency. Feedback from officials is
sent to the complainant via SMS.

“In at least 90 per cent of the cases, action has been taken and
response sent to the people who made the complaints, ” the Mayor said.
Both the four digit helpline and the SMS helpline can be accessed for
complaints related to civic infrastructure, including streetlights,
garbage clearance, roads and stormwater drains.

Chennai Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni, Deputy Mayor R.
Sathyabhama, Corporation Council ruling party leader N. Ramalingam and
Opposition leader Saidai P. Ravi were present.
