[Resolved]  Reader's Digest — Fraud

Address:Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh

I paid for the Readers Digest magazine using my credit card more than 2 months back. I've given them a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment. I've got payment confirmations / Transaction Reference No. from my bank as well. Still, they are not ready to acknowledge the payment. The bank says payment will only get charged on your account if the vendor name matches otherwise it will revert into your account automatically.

Since the amount is Rs.475, I can't really file a case against them in Consumer Court for recovery of the money that I've paid to them. I am not sure how many customers they are committing a fraud with, by these methods.

Please beware while dealing with these people or at least do not pay them by credit card at all. Excellent magazine but lousy services. They do not have the courtesy to even answer the emails that I'm writing to them.

I am Sandhya Nagle a Reliance One member. I had received a letter dated 22/04/2010 which consisted of two envelopes and some papers in one of which was mentioned that you are the finalist nominee of Reader's Digest sweepstakes from Delhi. I also received three dummy pink cheques which they had told me to return back in one of the two envelopes.one envelope was 'Reply YES' and other was 'Reply NO'.I was also told that if I pay Rs.449 then i will get the subscription of 12 months. But i did not send the money but only sent the envelope with the pink entry tickets(dummy cheques) and the key of a car printed on the paper.
After some days I received a paper by post that you have some letter in the post to collect it you will have to pay Rs.472.After visiting post office I payed Rs.472 and received only three small booklets in an envelope (REGD.V.P.P.PACKET) from Reader's Digest. This is a total fraud instead of receiving the readers Digest full year subscription I only received the booklets.
please take into notice the above complaint as early as possible and get my Rs.472 back soon or send me reader's digest copies per month for full year.

Hi Everyone,

I am a resident of flat No K-45 Ridgewood estate, Phase 4 DLF, Near Galleria Market, Gurgaon staying there from the last 8 months. I took the decision to stay in Ridgewood Estate just because of Security. Security was my only concern. I am very unhappy with the DLF as my Bike got stolen on 1st of June 2010 from the parking area no K-18 below the building inside the campus at 3 PM where around 200 guards take care of security. No action has been taken by Police and DLF Security as the FIR was lodged on the same day itself, FIR no 212 in Sector 29 Thana, Gurgaon. I called several numbers of times to DLF Security but no one gave response and disconnected the call. I waited for the police to come till now and now it’s the time to make aware people about the DLF societies is no more a safe place to live. I would request you to please forward my request to the concerned people to necessary action to take place. You can contact me at [protected]@gmail.com .

Also, I requested the president and Vice president of the society to take care of the issue. They just sympathized once and nothing has been action so far .

I have also requested people through other means to take care of their transport means and house equipments themselves as there is no more safety in DLF societies and flats.

It’s been 25 days now. I am without the transport. I am aware how much it is difficult to live without transport.
