HomeShop18.com / Book — Bad quality product, pathetic customer service and not refunding the money

Dear Sir,

I ordered a book called The End of Poverty by Jeffrey D Sachs through www.homeshop18.com with Order Number:[protected] by making an online payment through net banking for Rs 594. The company sent me the book in a very bad condition, which was far from what a new book looks like. After much complaining and calling up the company's customer care many times and writing complaints (by raising tickets) on their website, the company asked me to send the book through TNT courier and promised to send me another copy of the book.

To my surprise, I received exactly the same book the second time. I again complained about it and received a call on 17 December from their Head of the Books division, who apologised to me and promised to send me the book again or to refund the money. However, to date I have not got the refund from www.homeshop18.com. After that I have registered complaints on their website, but they have not replied to me. Calls to their customer service have also not resulted in any refund so far. When I call them they tell me they will process the refund and get back to me, but actually they are not taking any interest in informing me about refunding the money. In today's age of e-commerce I wonder how much time it should take for a company to refund such a small amount as Rs594.

The worst thing is that they do not call me and close the tickets without informing me whether they have resolved the issue, which shows they are simply not bothered about refunding the money.

Even after the Head of Customer Service knows about the case, it has not resulted in a refund for me, which is actually a shame. I have today threatened a police complaint if they do not refund my money immediately.

I will not recommend anyone to shop on www.homeshop18.com since their customer service is so pathetic. It does not make sense whether the products sold are lesser priced because if you don't get the product itself or the refund, then how does the price matter.

I agree with you. I am also facing the similar issue with homeshop18. I will appeal all readers not to buy anything from homeshop18.
You are lucky getting the order back. In my case, I've purchased AirTyme TORRID mobile @ Rs. 3999/- and received the product in non-working condition. They told me to sent it back. So, I've sent it back by DTDC, it was indicating delivered when tracking. I also inquire DTDC and told me they deliver it but the Homeshop18 told me they didn't received the item. So, now I clearly know that I've lost my Rs. 3999/- plus Rs. 100/- (for sending the item back). I Agree with you Mr. Neerajsisodia, I'm also recommend anyone NOT TO SHOP on Homeshop18. There are lots of other online shops like eBay, Myntra, Yehbi etc. I used to shop mainly on www.eBay.in, never have a problems till today.
