[Resolved] India Post — Wrongful delivery of Registered Letter
In March 2009, Hyderabad-based registrars Karvy consultants sent me share certificates vide RL No. 734 dated 12/03/2009. The postman servicing Dwarka Sector 7, New Delhi 110075 (where I reside) handed over the letter to the society watchman. The society watchman's signature appears on the postman's delivery sheet. The watchman did not give me the letter, but instead misplaced it. Since the shares are now considered lost, I have to apply for new shares at considerable expense to myself. Why did the postman give the letter to a watchman? Registered letters, especially, must be delivered to the addressee. I want India Post to compensate me the Rs 4000 costs incurred in obtaining the new share certificates. Was this information helpful?
