[Resolved] Indian Railways — Fraudulent activity related to ticket reservation | |||
I had booked two 2AC tickets from Sealdah to New Jalpaiguri a whole 2 months prior to date of journey. The reservation status at the time of booking was WL-1 and WL-2. Right upto the date of journey, the status did not move up EVEN BY ONE PLACE, which led to me getting concerned if there was some foul play in the system. This fear of mine was vindicated when on the date of journey I checked the PNR status of my booking after chart preparation. Both the seats were now showing up as RA1-43 which is supposed to indicate that I had been alloted a seat (albeit on sharing basis). However, when I reached the station, my name was not there on the charts, and when I checked my PNR status again, the status had again been relegated to WL-1 and 2. I wonder HOW this is possible. When I asked the TT at the station why our names were missing from the list while others at WL numbers of more than 20 had been confirmed. He said that this was due to IRCTC bookings not transferring the money to the railways account. Of course, this is not how it works and is utter hogwash. This is the same balderdash that one gets in this situation from any TT across the country. I wonder to what lengths the railways authorities have gone to propagate such myths among its officers, OR IS IT A WAY OF TAKING PEOPLE FOR GRANTED and dealing with such sticky situations with utter nonsense.
