[Resolved]  Lenovo 3000 N100 — Laptop Battery

Hi,

I purchased a Lenovo brand new 3000 N100 Laptop in November 2006. Product ID: 0768A35
In Jan 2008, one day the battery of my laptop suddenly konded off. Before it stopped working completely it used to gie me about 2.5 hours of backup. As the warranty was only for 1 year, so nobody at Lenovo (Call Center and all serice stations) is actually listening. They only have one standard statement, "If it is out of Warranty, You have to buy a new battery costing Rs. 6, 800/-)
In few of the forums I saw that lots of customers had similar complaint with this series of Lenoo Laptops. I doubt like others if they have pre-programmed that the battery will stop working after the warranty of 1 year gets expired.
Obviously Lenovo does not sell laptops saying that the Battery will not last for even 2 years. It is not about Warranty not actie, but the real issue is the product has to function properly even after warranty. Nobody would buy a laptop if we need to invest on battery every 14-16 months.

Im trying if someone can help. If nothing works I may even File a Lawsuit against Lenovo under Consumer Court.

i also faced the same problem. my laptop was giving problem like flickering of the screen and suddenly one afternoon, when i start it, it was not working. my laptop was working with AC Adapter.but it was not charging with Ac Adapter. it was not working on battery. its warranty period has expired.
what the hell is this? how much the new battery will cost?

i also faced the same problem. Laptop was working fine in morning and suddenly when i switched it on again in afternoon it was not working. my laptop's battery does not charge when connected with the AC adapter. The system function only with the AC adapter attached. The system does not function on battery alone.

It's too much of the lenovo...
I had similar problem with battery of the said laptop. The battery stopped working almost after warranty period (1 year) expired and when compained, there was a terse message stating that they cannot help as the laptop is out of warranty period. One of my friends also had the same problem just after warranty. However, his battery has been replaced by Lenovo free of cost.

I strongly feel that there are serious quality snags in make of these batteries.
i hav a lenovo 3000n100 and i was buy one and half year back and its battry is not woking when i insert a power plag its on and when i plag down its not giving my battry back up

i agree vivek my battery is also off and under similar conditions after warrenty so i[censored] r filing a suit i m with you...
Levovo replaced my battery after it failed just one week after warranty expired. Had to spend much time on phone re-explaining the situation to everyone I spoke with, some seemed totally unaware of the 18 month extension on the battery warranty. Finally got a new battery...but, now it's just over a year later and the replacement battery is failing...cuts off after 35 minutes. I generally leave my computer on ac power, very seldom take it out of the house or use the battery. Wanting to save my 1000 lifetime cycles for later. I planned to keep this laptop for many years and recall older IBM's batteries lasting five to seven years. Not sure what to do now other than to contact Lenovo once again and see if I can talk them into another battery.
When I boot with Ubuntu, it shows the battery as being made by SONY. Is there a class action suit against SONY underway??

Lenovo Laptop — no response from service centere even after giving time of abt 1 and a half month

I am launching a complain against the 'Lenovo service centre' of kanpur, U.P.
Im a customer of lenovo laptop and i am facing battery problem since last 2 months...
my laptop is still in warranty period...n the warranty will end by 28th august...
date of purchase was 28th august 2008.
The service centre is not replacing the battery though the complain is launched before i month.

The problem should be solved within 5 days.. but they have taken more than a month.
and still there is no response from their side.

If they will not replace the battery before the warrany, i will not pay any money for the device, because my complaint is locked before warranty period.

And even they replace an old part instead of new, which again does not work properly after a month.

I request you to plz take any strict action against them!

Dear Friends,

I bought my lenovo laptop dated 17 jul 08 and my battery completely dead dated 17 sep 09, after 14months. Now I use my laptop without battery and connect direct from electricity.

I don't know what to do now..will i get replace battery from lenovo and how??

I'm also having the same problem. i buy y500 on October 2007. and till last month my battery giving me 1 hr backup but on 1st oct. suddenly my betery get discharged and when i charged it full and remove the plug within 3 min battery was discharged. again i charged the battery and within 3 min the battery was full charged and after reoving the plug within 3 min it was discharged.and when i complaing it i received the same answer from the company buy a new battery.

so pls don't buy any lenovo laptops.

AM USING LENOVA Y51O AND LENOVA N100, BOTH HAVE COMLAINT IN CAM. I USED TO DO VIDEO CONF. BUT AM UNABLE TO DO IN Y510 IN YAHOO MESS.AND CAM IS NOT WORKING IN N100 AFTER MANY RE-INSTALLA.



NOW WHAT SHALL I DO
I also had the same experience. the product seems to be faulty. ther was no response from IBM support centre in India despite so many mails from them

I bought lenovo N100, Product ID - 0768 AQ1, Type - 0768AQ1, Model No.- 0768 in June 2007.

Today this battery is not at all charging Running directly on ac power.
1 year back i replaced this battery from customer care but within 1 year again this battery is gone.

maybe Lenovo programs the battery for 1 years.
wat to do next?
Problem is in BATTERY. Lenovo must accept it.

I had made complaint for that .your customer care executive told that there is problem in battery and it will be replaced within 7 days but from last one month my problem is not short out and battery is not replaced yet .customer care executive are telling there is no stock of battery in Bangalore(India).I want to tell you that if you donn't have single battrey then close your company.why are making fool to customers.Before selling your product your representative calls 3-4 times for purchasing product but after selling they do not respond any complaint or mail. This is not good marketing strategy which you are adopting.After sales service is most important which makes your product reliable and good market value.But you people forget your product after selling thats why you can never compete with Dell or any other good laptop manufacturer.
I want to tell you your services are worst.Improve your service.If my complaint is not resolve within 3 days I will go to consumer court and suit a case against you that within warranty period you are not giving service.If you can not provide service why you write warranty for a product.

i am also having the same problem, my battery use to give me around 2.5 hours of backup before suddenly getting dead. Your pre-programmed time concept may be actually true or whatever may be the reason, you are doing a good job if actually moving to consumer court. hope something works out. all the best.
