Subsequent reply of MSEDCL Thane Urban Division
Further our letter dated 30th March, 2009.

Dear Sir,

This to bring to your urgent notice that the matter of may bill dispute that had been taken up with the local office of our region still pending despite our regular follow up. The problem which has been clearly comprehended and rectified by the Deputy Executive Engineer of local office Vikas Sub.-Division, Thane has been pending for want of sanction from the Executive Engineer, Thane Urban Division. Hence the problem has to be brought to our notice.

The problem started when our old meter caught fire in February, 2008 and our old meter No. [protected] was replaced with a new meter No. [protected] on 2nd February, 2008. The record of the old meter reading and the units consumed is present in the bills. So also the reading on the new meter is also revealed in the bill. Ever since then we were being charged an average bill of electricity till Sept., 2008. In order to rectify this, we had made a request on 16th, May, 2008. However, action had been taken. Now since August, 2008, we are being wrongly charged for a high bill of Rs.1, 41, 690 and interest thereof. A few copies of the bills to depict the units consumed each month are enclosed herewith for your reference. These clearly indicate that there has been no fault in meter. It is ascertained from the office of the Deputy Executive Engineer, Vrindavan that the error is due to clerical mistake in the manual record at their office.

When the error has already been pointed out and the problem is well comprehended, why has there been a delay in the sanction? This lacuna in co-ordination between your departments is causing us consumers to suffer. Kindly take note of this and expedite this matter. It has been more than a year old suffering for us.

Finally, I exhort your office to take immediate action or else face the consumer court. Today with our active consumer court and media channels the slack and sloppiness of your department could be brought forth in no time. Please do not test our patience and force us to take this rigorous step.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs. Manisha A. Hira
