I completely agree wit you. the requirement for address proff is a bank statement and pan card but during police verification they ask for millions of documents!!

this is useless...and the situation is worse in mumbai...the officials indirectly ask for bribe and still dont do any work!!

it is a such a shame

Passport Office — Delay in Issuing of Passport

I have applied for new Passport in Dharmshala at 24/09/2010 and its being 05/01/2011 today, till now i haven't got may passport. And in your website http://passport.nic.in when i was looking for its status it came "File Reference Number (SML-Z[protected] is either wrong or information NOT available". So can you please update me why its being getting so delayed and why my file information not been updated in your website.

i had applied passport in amritsar office on 6 aug 2010.my file no is ASR-L[protected].after 5 months i am still waiting my passport.always they said(It is to regret that due to unavoidable circumstances the despatch of Passport has been delayed and will now be despatched in a week's time)
i am still waiting.pls do then needful.by doing the delay you are encourging agents way.

Passport Office — Rampant Corruption

I would like to bring to the notice of Crime Branch People about the rampant corruption at the passport office.
Though how strong and genuine your documents are for applying new passport, the officials sitting inside the passport office accept bribe openly and dont entertain those citizens who come without any agent.
they accept the files from agents quickly with bribe but when any normal person approaches them, they harass them by requesting more documents.
i even gone through the same situation. when i offered Rs. 500 they accepted the file and when i didnt have more money to pay they rejected my other files in want of documents.
it is very pathetic and govt is very much awared about this rampant corruption but dont do anything to stop this menace.
only honest officials are requested to take action about these corrupt people or we the helpless citizens will have no choice but to pay them for getting our work done on time and without hassles.

Passport Office — website not working

the website for filling application form to apply for the passport (http://www.passport.chd.nic.in) is not working since many months. As the government claims the process has all been made online where we have to just fill out the form and take time slot for submitting the documents, nothing such seems to be happening right now.

I Recently submitted passport application on 15/3/2011,

after that i got a call from Police Officer on 18th for the verification,

He came and he Politely took every details( I feel that he is a sincere police officer),

Unfortunately after completion of gathering information at last he asked me 300 Rs( I Was socked).

I said Sorry to him and he get angry (He is conveying that it is Quite common every one is giving 300Rs to him).

Finally He threatened me.

Now i searched in Passport Enquiry Status It showing "File Reference Number (HYD-Z[protected] is either wrong or Information NOT available".

Sir I sincerely asking you what i did wrong. whom i am going to complaint these king of things(Don't say Police).

Passport Office — Delay in Delivering the Passport

I applied for my passport on 18.03.2011,got involved in the process,done with police verification and all around more than a a month ago,can't understand why they are not dispatching the passport,sent one of my staff to inquire, some MR.Thakur was expecting some amount from him. tried to talk to Passport officer MR. Lakda, but could not get through it.
please take it as a complaint of mine and do the needful as soon as possible.

MY PASSPORT STATUS FROM MID JULY IS STILL SHOWN AS "POLICE REPORT IS CLEAR AND THE PASSPORT IS EXPECTED TO BE DESPATCHED BY[protected]. SUBJECT TO ALL DOCUMENTS BEING IN ORDER.


Website seems to be updated on 11-Aug-2011, but my passport status remained the same.

Any clue on the status will help me to a great extent as my company is planning for my business trip to USA.

It took a month for the police department to carry out the address and identity verification. Once that was done, it took 15 more days for the status to be updated on the RPO Web site. Now it has been 3 months since we first applied and your web site still shows the status of our application as:

Police Report is clear. Application is under process.

How much longer do we have to wait for a passport??? Due to this delay, I have already missed out an opportunity at work.

In spite, of visiting passport office several times and the 3 personal particular forms being submitted to the passport office. There is no action being taken from Ghaziabad passport office. Re-verification has been completed. When I went back to check the status on website, the link itself was showing that "Police has recommended for Police Verification from your permanent address. Please furnish 3 personal particulars forms of permanent address". I am seeing this status since last 2 two years. Please help me out.

On 27th October 2011, my family has applied for their passports in JALANDHAR office with file no's: P[protected], P[protected], O[protected]. My father been to passport office 4times. Nobody gave him any reason of passport delay. The online status shows that police verification incomplete. Then he went to SSP office Jalandhar and got the ledger number through which they sent to passport office and again went to passport office. But I am so sorry of all the dealing officers related to those files.
