[Resolved]  Royal Enfield — Damaged and used product

Hello Friends,

I had booked a Royal Enfield Classic 500CC from Bangalore on the 21st December 2010. I was working then and was trying to get into a MBA college too..Luckily I did get through ITM Navi Mumbai and had to shift to Mumbai for two years. I contacted the nearest Royal Enfield Showroom which is in Nerul-Navi Mumbai and requested them to transfer the bookin from Bangalore to Mumbai which they readily agreed. I had to make a fresh booking in Mumbai and was told that they will contact the Bangalore showroom and get it transferred. I did get a call from them and they told me to come and make the complete payment after which 10 days later i would get the Delivery of the vehicle. Now I did the fresh booking on 24 August 2011 and was asked to make the payment on 14th September 2011. Which I did happily. I had requested the showroom guys to intimate me as soon as the vehicle arrives. On the 19th September I went to the Showroom with one of my friends to submit the pending documents. I saw a band new Green color RE classic and out of Curosity asked wether it was Mine and they told it was not and that the other customer had made the Payment before me...When i inquired about my vehicle they smiled and said that it is in TRANSIT and it will come soon. I asked another employee who was cheking on the stock. He informed me that there was no place in the showroom and hence they will ask for the new lot only if the Bike is taken by the customer. I requested him too to contact me as soon as the lot comes. I recieved a call and was asked to come on 3rd October to take the bike. I went to the showroom all grinnig and when arrived the guy told me that the passing was not done and requested me to come the next day. I said that I will take the bike and the next day will go to Panvel with one of the Showroom guys to get the RTO done. He was not ready but then he showed me the Vehicle. When I saw the vehicle...I was devasted...the vehicle was in Pathetic condition..there was a Scratch on the tank..which he said was normal and said he will change it....the front rim was rusted,even the metal under the seat was rusted and needless to say that the nut above the air filter was rusted too..his brilliant idea was...Solution laga ke nikal denge sir!!! The main Chrome plated Nut of the handle had the missing patches of chrome...the Left side mirror was scratched badly...and to my surprise the date on the vehicle was 16 August 2011..when I asked why a demo piece was given to me..he said that the company had a Policy that the vehicles are given out on rotational basis and till this bike goes no other green can come in. He also said that there was a policy which requires them to keep a Green bike in the showroom at any point and this leads to the bike being there for 1 to 2 months. I asked him as to why I was not told about the Bikes whereabouts?? Why was I lied saying my bike was in Transit when the bike was in the showroom before even me booking the bike??? the Answer rather blunt was..Sir mein apko hamara har Internal baat nahi bata sakta! He also said that till this bikes go they do not order for any new bikes (Green Color). I asked him what about the bike that I had seen on the 19 September which was just out of a truck..He jus denied saying that there was no bike which was delivered and that I musve mistaken with the color. After much pusuation he agreed and gave me some Jargon of bookin and bills. I told that i had already spent almost 10 months in waiting and I shudve been given preference while allocating the bikes. Why was there a Favourism done??? He could not answer and he called his boss in Bandra.I had a long conversation with him and he said that all he can do is get the parts changed and that the registration was already done in my name (Without even informing me) and that they cannot give me another piece. I had a long argument with them with no effect. All the manager said that he was Sorry and appologised to me. Now please tell me if it is wrong on the part of the customer to expect a Brand new Bike with no scratches and rust on it??? This bike has always been a dream bike for me.. I had checked this bike six years ago in UK. To my delight it was launched in India, but Iam not at all satisfied...I hope people understand that when they buying a RE its a Lifetime relationship which they carry..and I admit that there is a Emotional side to my story..But Ihave made the complete payment in cash when I was asked..and done everything a customer can..the least he can expect is a good condition bike. This experience has just opened my eyes and I can feel the shivers when I think about the servicing of the vehicle. Iam hoping to get a new peice or just my money back. I fail to see any other option in front of me. Please can you please look into this matter. Its a humble request from a die hard RE fan.
