[Resolved]  seagate sata hard disk — replacement problem in warranty period

i have bought a 80 gb hard disk of this company from nehru place( name of the shop is Computer empire) in march 2006 and they told me that it has a warranty period of 4.5 years, recently it stop working properly and i contacted at the service centre of seagate ( which is in ashoka building nehru place) and they told me that it will take around 4-5 days roughly. Along with it they gave me an acknowledgment of receiving the hard disc from me and i also get a sms about the same which has a call id.After 4 days they called me up to say that there is some problem about generating some number from the hart disc and it will take some more days. Finally, after trying thier contact number a lot they picked up the phone and said that my call id has been changed but i can now collect the new hard drive which i later on found defective. My address on the new acknowledgment that i receive has also been changed by them along with the call id. Now they are saying to go through all the replacement procedure again which is very cumbersome and there is no surity that this time it wont happen, as told to me.
I have been facing lots of trouble due to their indiffrent and rude attitude and deeply hurted by the kind of pranks they are playing on me.
I Hope to get the due help from the consumer forum,

Hi,
i bought 250 gb hdd 6 months ago and it got corrupted...then i replaced it from accel they returned the defective piece...then i again replaced it and they returned another defective piece...what should i do now...?
How to claim warrenty directly from seagate
I agree Seagate drives are terrible and unreliable, but they do not own Western Digital. I have had great luck with WD drives (only a couple in a few thousand have failed) however Seagate drives have roughly a 75% failure rate in my experience.

i am agrred with this problem. i have purchased 80GB seagate HDD. after 1 year use, its all the data lost and it faced problem in formating and installing OS. after format i got only 30GB space.HDD of seagate are very poor.
I also puchased a new segate hard disk of 1000 GB a couple of days back in delhi. on a day or two when i tried to install it, it gives error. Running the sea tool display result as red dot meaning hard disk having problem and need to be replaced by seagate. I go to shopkeeper near my home from where i purchased this and he take that hard disk to submit the same to Ashok Bhavan Nehru Place and now told me that it requires 2-3 weeks for the hard disk to come back??
Why?
It is clearly violation o[censored]ser rights and chating and fraud with customer. I purchased a new hard disk and that is causing problem they should replace it with new one. I have bills for this. Why ther is delay??

We do have a similar story with Seagate 250 GB hard disk purchased on 26th June, 2008 which is under warranty.
As it is found defective, we have approached Accel Frontline Services Private Ltd., 132, Greams Road, Ground Floor, hussain Mansion, Chennai and handed-over under the following reference:

They are primarily telling customer that they cannot recover data and an undertaking is preprinted and customer signature obtained.

As no data is receovered, they can immediately replace the unit. In stead they say that they have to get from Singapore.
When you verify Call Status online, it is not updated even after 48 hours. If you telephone every time, we receive a reply that electricity is not there and we have to repeat calling.
Why they are not taking the address of the customer for directly delivering the replacement at the time of booking.

Highly irresponsible behaviour and customer service.

i have send an 500 GB hard disk for replacement, near by 20 days i haven't receive it back
whats the reason for delay, Kindly let me know.
I have purchased 80GB HDD Seagate SATA Type from Nehru Place. The malfunctioning started within a month of purchase. I checked the warranty on seagate website and send my HDD to company. Till then I have replaced 4 times the HDD under warranty. I am fed up with this issue. The partitions get erased automatically. What the heck product it is.
