[Resolved] Standard Chartered Bank — EMI Option on credit card | |||
I had opted for an EMI on my credit cards spend with Standard Chartered Bank. I made the payment of my first EMI one day before the due date thro' net banking...I see a huge interest and late payment charges levied in my next statement..I was told that there is a separate EMI account on the net thro' which I had to pay...so I was levied charges though the funds had reached them ontime just because it went to a wrong account and despite many requests of mine they only reversed 25% charges...The next month I cautiously paid three days in advance to avoid this menace...This time when I called them to check whether the funds have been transferred to the EMI account they asked me to call back after two days since as per them it takes two days for the funds to get credited...yes I agree theoritically all banks say it takes two days but with my other credit cards I have seen that the funds are credited to the account the same day...Either this banks way of working is inefficient or its a way of extracting money from prompt customers like me...Again the next month I was levied late payment and interest charges....Again the same cycle of calling up customer care, writing to their services department....I dont know how many mails I have written to them....Finally I received a mail from them that the charges have been reversed and it would reflect in the next statement.....I was relieved...but only for a short span...again in the next statement I see that they have levied late payment and interest although I promptly paid much before the due date.....no response from their services team for almost ten working days (although they claim that they respond within seven working days !!!!!) Even the charges which was promised to be reversed in their mail was not reversed and on top of that additional charges....again I had to call their call centre and managed to get that month's late payment and interest charges reversed...I decided to close all my cards with this bank and called up their call centre and foundout the preclosure amount on my EMI and confirmed with them and immediately paid up full amount including late payment and interest for no fault of mine just because i could not take this harassment anymore and put a request for closure....Today I again see late payment and interest debited to my account....!!!!!!! Again the same story of calling them and asking them to reverse..... This is my worst experience with credit cards...STANDARD CHARTERED BANK'S WAY OF ADMINISTERING THINGS IS NOT AT ALL CUSTOMER FRIENDLY..THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CONSIDERATION FOR PROMPT CUSTOMERS....THEIR SERVICES TEAM DOES NOT RESPOND TO QUERIES/ ESCALATIONS.....IT HAS BEEN A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE FOR ME WITH THIS BANK.....MY TIME, PHONE CALLS, MONEY HAVE BEEN WASTED ENDLESSLY EVERY MONTH TILL DATE FROM WHEN I OPTD FOR AN EMI .....I JUST HOPE ITS ENDED NOW ATLEAST......AND THEY DO NOT TROUBLE ME ANYMORE...... I am facing same issues although I am paying my credit card bills before time I have come to know that 1738/- rs has been chrged till now on Insta buy (EMI card) I am also planning to file a consumer complaint if charges are not reversed.
