I have had an extreme example of how badly a bank that is supposed to be one of the big one's in the industry behaving to a customer. I had an outstanding for which i was offered settlement which i agreed . the tel-con was on 19th of this month and since i was out of town i had one of my friends to make the instalment at the branch on 20th . This was done even without any written instruction from them and on monday ( 21st) they emailed me that they are okay with the settlement and followed by another email that they are proceeding on legal terms . This is unfair and the unruly lady who spoke had no courtesy . This is un becoming of any financial institution and customer forums should unitedly see an end to this.
This in regard to fraudulent transaction on my wife, Nanda Porecha’s Standard Chartered Credit Card . The credit card was stolen at Fashion Station, Nirmal Lifestyles, Mulund on 8th June 2005 and was fraudulently transacted upon for more than Rs. 40, 000. A statement of which came to our house and shocked us, because we had never carried out those transactions. We received the statement dated 13th June 2005 after one whole week, i.e. on 20th June 2005 and we immediately notified the bank on 20th June 2005 and lodged a non cognizable complaint and eventually an FIR no. 357/05 dated: 6.9.05 with the Ghatkopar Police Station (Ghatkopar West).

Acting on the FIR the police traced the accused who turned out to be an employee of Fashion Station and confiscated the goods that he had purchased through the credit card by forging signature of Nanda Porecha on charge slips. However, the signature of the accused does not even closely resemble my wife’s signature.

The matter was sub judiced after the accused was arrested and will come up for hearing in the Vikhroli Suburban court where the fate of the accused will be decided.

However, even on notification that the accused has been arrested, the bank refuses to co-operate and is not trying to understand the case.

Upon that the bank has also served a legal notice wherein it is asking me to pay an amount Rs. 1, 81, 580.91 at present. However, no statements were sent to me by the bank in the past years. They have directly issued this legal notice after a gap of three years.

I have copies of all the proofs of correspondence with the bank and FIRs as well as other documents which confirm that the accused has been caught; the police have confiscated goods and the charge slips where my wife’s signature was forged.

Stan Chart Fraud Control Unit officer Mr.Amitosh had visited Ghatkopar Police Station (West) and had collected the copies of FIR and Goods Recovery Certificate issued by Ghatkopar Police Station in person from the investigation officer Mr. Naresh Pawar. Mr. Bhavesh Jani who was the investigating officer in the case has received all the proofs in person at the Lower Parel Branch. Even after proving that these were fraudulent transactions, the bank was repeatedly insisting on the payment for settlement.

Bank was however informed from time to time about forgery and cheating in the case.

I am amazed at the laxity of investigations on the bank’s side even after having gone through the documents provided by me and the police officers.

I have been a loyal and a responsible customer of Standard Chartered since the last 15 years, but such behavior of the bank has led to marring my relations with it forever and will now lead me to take consumer court's resort against the bank.

Hi Sir,
How can i confirm that my name is not in Defaulters list of CIBIL inspite getting a clearance certificate from Bank, and also confirmation by mail that my name will be taken from the Negative List of CIBIL.
Or else what sort of confirmation do one need to get from Bank for removal from CIBIL after paying the entire due amount.
I see in most of the compaints that even after clearing the amount and with clearance certificate onces name will not be removed, why is it so? Or is adding to the list is possible and removing is not at all possible?

Advance Thanks,
Murali.
Mr Rajasekar

I had also suffered problem similer to you in 2008 and suffered lot. Having suffered due to credit cards and CIBIL in 2008, have decided to help those who are also suffering due to such problems. In last 2 years I have gone through CIBIL Act, Rules and Regulations, severla other RBI guidelines as well. I am personally aware about Standard Chartered that they are doing lot of illegal activity and have already made complaint with RBI. But I want several complaints directly to RBI so that RBI is forced to issue inspection of Standard Chartered, which will bring out lot many surprises.

In case if you find appropriate please revert back to me on my email ID - [protected]@yahoo.com.

Hi, I have applied for a credit card with Standard Chartered bank, reference No : FHH4416CAD. After some months i received a call from one of their executives regarding a credit card offer named Inner Circle Platinum Credit Card. They inquired all the details about me, my job, my salary , my company details and everything.

The next day the executive sent one of their collection executives to my office to get the required documents which induces :

1. Id proof : given my PAN xerox.
2. Company ID card xerox.
3. My last two payslips xerox.
4. My salary account bank statement as address proof.
5. One passport size photo.

Now after months of persuasion by me, the bank people sent me a letter mentioning that they won't b able to issue a credit card as "Doesn't meet bank policy norms.

I told them everything initially only after that they offered me the credit card and now when they are not issuing me one then they should have returned me my documents also along with the intimation letter.

These people are simple identity thieves they take details from somewhere and misuse them.

There customer care number never connects.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Sub : Frequest Text messages and recent statement of payment default
Ref : Manhattan Platinum card ending with 8264

For the credit card statement from Manhattan , generated on 07/10/2012 , I did the entire payment of Rs.39505/= by Bank of Baroda Cheque dated 20/10/2012.
From the month of December 2012 , when I was travelling abroad , I keep getting the following text messages from Standard Charted saying YOUR STANDCHART CARD ENDING 8264 IS OVERDUE, VISIT WEBSITE TO MAKE A SECURE PAYMENT, AVOID ADDITIONAL LATE CHARGES AND PREVENT COLLECTION CALLS.
In the month of January 2013 as I returned home I called up Standard Charted customer care , who apologized for the situation and she said the necessary corrections from their side has been done and gave the following request numbers:

After a few weeks I kept getting the above SMS again , which I ignored . But on 07/04/2013 , I get a statement that Rs:1217.30 has to be payed Immediatly.
I havent used this card after the complete payment of Rs.39505 has been done on 20/10/2012.
This is enough of harrasement and more than what a law abiding doctor can take. I do nopt want to have a black mark for the other credit cards which am using for a fault of Standard Charted.
I had send a mail to Standard Charted few weeks back but did not receive any reply for it.
Kindly advice.

Regards,
Dr.Sanju Thomas Abraham.
