[Resolved]  Standard Chartered Manhattan Platinum Credit Card — Non Compliance of the offerings by the bank

Standard Chartered Field Department contacted me for Manhattan Platinum card and offered
1. 5% cash back on all petrol transactions at any petrol pump all over India.
2. 3 months free EMI without any interest and extra charges of any sort.
3. 5% cashback applicable on supermarkets and departmental stores.

I was informed that the bank would send me the details of the merchant establishments where 5% cashback offer is applicable.

While filing the application, I found that 5% cashback on petrol transactions and 3 months free EMI (without any extra charges) were not listed on the application form, also there were no details of the merchant establishments.

Since the bank representative confirmed these offerings again I quoted in specific over the application form that the 5% cashback on fuel transactions anywhere in India has been committed and the application should only be processed only if this offer is applicable. The verification dapartment also confirmed these offerings during two different verfication calls.

Now the bank is denying these offerings. The bank was not even ready to accept that this card was free for life time and informed me via email that I would be charged Rs 3499+service tax in the first month bill. It took me a lot of effort to let them understand that the card was free for life time and there would be no renewal fees on this card which they later agreed to.

Again there is a lot of communication gab between there different departments. One would agree that there would not be any no non-usage fees and other would deny the same. They admit that it was a false commitment from their end, however are not ready to provide the offerings they committed.

I fail to understand, since I quoted the offerings committed by their representative on the top of the application form and signed it, and if the bank was not ready to offer me these offerings it should have rejected the application and asked me to refill the form. I gave my details to their verification department only after they confirmed all these offerings on the card.

Several contacts have been made at their escalation point but no satisfactory response has been provided. Moreover as per the customer care executive Julie, there is no such list where the details of the merchant establishments where 5% cashback is applicable.

I do have some recorded conversation which would confirm the communication gab between their different departments. Please investigate so that serious action can be taken against the defaulters and the offerings should be applied on my card.

I have applied for Manhattan credit card.

My refernace no is[protected] INMAN01INMAN01 on date 6/09/09.

One person called me nad took all deatiled but he don't have answer my query and he told me i'll counsult with my senior and get back to you.

But i have not recived any call form him side yet, why u guys take so much time from us for required information, and not call us back.

i have reqiured that credit card is any one can help me on that.
One person called up from SCB Bangalore and said that he is Bank staff and forcing me to accept the SCB Platinum card with one year fees for life time. I said that I'm not interested and disconnected the call, but still he keeps forcing for the same.

I think they are total cheats. He offers 5% cash back on any transaction even Petrol.
Which, I found from your statement that it is a total lie. I dont understand why such
professional bankers get into this type of cheating.
I had similar problems with them. The credit-card-salesman first confirmed that there there won't be any surcharge on petrol and so on. I confirmed it later with the bank people who called to confirm the details. Couple of months after I started using the card, I saw that they are charging 2.5% surcharge on my petrol expenses! [ It was not mentioned separately; but made part of the charge. Thus making it hard to figure out. ]. When I called them, they said it is part of the card rules. When I wanted to talk to higher ups, I was promised a call back, which never happened.

Another similar aspect is relating to the 5% cash-back from super-markets. I am not getting any cash-backs from big supermarkets like "More" etc. It looks that the list of supermarkets they have is very small.

It is hard to trust these guys..
Even i have applied for a card recently.. the same platinum card. As er the conversation, they had informed me that its alifetime free credt card. als. 5% cashback on supermarkets and departments stores.. where is the list of these supermarkets and departmental stores where there is a 5% cashback?? in the webite i'm unable to find it either.
yes. even their website reads it's free-for-life.

but you call CC, and they quote a one-time fee of Rs 3, 499/-

Should be suited in court for false advertisng and fooling people
Even i faced the same problem one month back . SCB persons promised me a Manahattan platinum card without any Joining fees and anual charges(they had informed me that its alifetime free credt card. als. 5% cashback on supermarkets and departments stores, and 5X reward points too..) . Then i agreed and filled/signed up the docs .

But during the verifications i came to know that no offers there are providing and they are aslo charging some amounts for anual or renewal fees .

I am not sure who are those people doing this type of fraud .
I am receiving mini statements to pay some outstanding amount of INR 275.75 even before receiving my card. Once you become their customer, their tone changes from Politeness to Rudeness without absolutely no reasons (even though, we are calm and polite all the time) and they start hanging up the phone on you before even waiting for you to reply for their "Have a good day". My suggestion, never get a Standard Chartered Credit card. I am going to get my canceled soon.
what is the use of just adding to our grievances & penning them down, we as end consumer should meet & take these companies to task.

We should internally share our email address meet least in most common cities & go to their offices with written complaints.

If not chip in funds & file a case against them in consumer court.
Hi,

This is becoming something very serious and concerning from my end, every now and then I recieve call from SC credit dard department for payment of dues.
I was holding a SC platinum card till Aug-2009. Before closing the card I cleared the due payment (last bill I received in month of Aug-2009 - have transaction details also). Now suddenly after one year I got a threatening call from SC asking clearing the due payment. different people from bank are telling different STORIES.

Story # 1 : I made a transaction of INR 1000 /- (approx) which is charged with interest and now it is 2000. The person is not ready to provide me the transaction details and asking me to pay the amount. But truth is that I never received any bill from the bank after Aug-2009 and as far as I remember I did not make any transaction after that I already requested to block my card . And my address and e-mail ID is updated on the bank site.

Story # 2 : The bill which I received on 30-Aug and fully paid on 3th -Sep got a fine of INR 396/- (not sure how). Now after 1 year person from bank is saying that my due is accumulated to INR 2000/- approx which I have to clear.

I am confused and amazed that which story to trust, I don't have any issues in paying the bill but what I am seeking from bank is

- Provide the transaction details for which they are asking me to pay.
- Why this wasn't brought to my notice till one year and why I never received a FnF from bank when I closed my account.

Please help me to resolve/escalate this as I don't want any dispute for sake of such a small amount but on the other hand I will not pay a single penny without proper justification.
