[Resolved]  Udupi railway station — inconvenience to travellers

I am writing regarding the day to day running o[censored]dupi railway station under Konkan railways on the Mangalore- Mumbai line.
I must mention that Udupi caters primarily to students, patients and pilgrims. As such there are a large number of travellers who are disables/ with young children/ older people and students with large amounts of baggage.
Routinely, the railway enquiry remains closed and the ticket issuing clerk is called upon to answer enquiries as well (in the current booking area). Needless to say he is irritable, rude and not customer friendly in the least. the station as a rule does not display coach position information until about 10 inutes prior to the arrival of the train. It is pertinent to say here that until about 10 minutes prior to the arrival of the train, they do not give you late running informaiton either.
The platform of arrival is alos decided at the very last moment. This causes untold hardship for the travellers who have to rush tot he second platform. As mentioned earlier most of the traveelers are old/sick/with small children or with luggage.
Repeated entreaties to the station master has had no effect. The behaviour of the staff is best left unmentioned. THEY HAVE FREQUENTLY BEEN HEARD USING BAD LANGUAGE TOO. Udupi is a crucial station in both directions of travel. It is high time the station authorities realised their responsibilities and acted in a manner befitting public servants. It would also be highly useful if they wouyld give corect informaiton about train arrivals and if they would pick up the phone!!!

Inconvenience of Railway Stations — Inconvenience at Railway Stations

Dear Sir

I am writing this letter in reference to the above mentioned subject.

I have been travelling through the Western Railways for the past few years and its shocking to find how irresponsible the BMC and the concerned Railway authorities are.

Inspite of the narrow entrance(s) and exit(s) at all the railways stations, the BMC has been sleeping by not taking any actions towards the area(s) encroached by the various foods stalls and vegetable vendors running their establishment(s) either on footpaths or the narrow lanes.

BMC and Railway authorities are too biased towards these small establishment(s) wherein the right of the daily commuter is ignored.

Why can't the BMC fel the trouble the daily commuter face to earn his livelihood?
What is the BMC and the Railway Authorities doing?
Why is the BMC not clearing the clutter around every railway station in Bombay?
Why do they need to sit close to the station premises?
Why is the BMC not floating disciplinary policies for no hawking zones around the station area?
Are the Food stall & vegetables trade more important or the lakhs of people travelling?
Why do not they think that these people need to be provided with the best possible facilities?

It is just because of these hard working people (daily commuters) they (BMC) gets their salaries out of.

It is very shocking to find the attitude of the said restaurants and vegetable vendors are violating the norm(s) of running a their trade around the railway premises in a manner that is not ethical or moral.

Littered footpaths and overflowing gutters with their dirt entire footpath stinks.

Nor do they maintain proper hygiene in and outside their restaurants, thereby aggravating the issue of mosquitoes that these areas are dealing for the past several years.

Some of them have uprooted the trees that were planted earlier so that their dirty display boards can been seen. How ruthless and selfish these establishments can get.

Inspite of the road is very narrow on both the sides and the BMC has not even bothered to warn the them and DEMOLISH the illegal encroachment(s).

The BMC seems to be too lenient with them and must take them to ask for maintaining discipline and cleanliness in the vicinity.

Its high time BMC and work towards the upliftment of the city's infrastructure since today you are enjoying the fruits of the said hard working community.

Since looking at the development in adjacent states I will not be surprised to see this hard working community to shift base where their efforts would be respected and better facilities provided.

Do not take them for granted and start taking action Mr BMC Commissioner.
