Forest Department Delhi / MCD Delhi — Tree cutting

Address:New Delhi, Delhi

Dear Sir, We had lodged a complaint to the tree helpline toll free number vide complaint no. 81 on 23rd July, 2014 and the D.R.O Concerned Mr. Ganpat Rai visited us on 24th July, 2014 and had taken on records complaint for 16 trees whereas around 40 trees were cut in the local MCD park of Kalkaji J and N Block on behest of the local RWA, who were more than bent upon to damage to ecology of the area in the garb of beautification, whenever we posed any question to the so called RWA, they would claim of having permissions for cutting the trees. When we started enquiring with the various authorities it turned out to be otherwise, even in the complaint filed by MCD to the Delhi Police states that RWA has got the trees cut. Its almost one year have met DCF South, D.R.O. Ganpat Rai, have spoken to them over phone multiple times but they seem disinterested in the whole thing for reasons known to them, we were called upon the DCF, South Mr. Tarun Johri's office on 9th February, 2015 but to our dismay that day Mr. Johri wasnt available and till date we have been looking for some action against the RWA who is at large with detroying many age old trees many of them around 40-50 years old. On top of it the forest department issued a permission for pruning of 17 Euclapytus trees to the MCD instead of looking at the irrepairable damage which has been done by the RWA. In the name of pruning almost all the Euclapytus trees were head chopped leaving them in a bad shape(photos attached) along with badly damaging two neem trees. Some residents raised their voice against this illegal tree cutting and even reported the matter to the local police who turned a deaf ear to the whole issue. Now we have been running from pillar to post even been manhandled by the RWA members and being regulary abused by them, we have been looking for an answer from the various govt agencies involved who seem to be in hand and glove with the high and mighty members of the RWA. Hope this forum can lead us to the right contacts and some action against the culprits happen, as we seem to waging a lone battle in the world which talks to much about environment, pollution but hardly many people get the courage to take on the culprits head on. Thank you. Rohit Kohli +91-[protected]

This is the state of affairs all across Delhi - the govt officials work with local RWAs and end up pocketing all the money either in the way of selling timber or any which ways. Shameful and pathetic state machinery which babus use to fill their own pockets including MCD COUNCILLORS and also the political and money minded people in the RWAs.
I am planning to file a case with NGT on this regard wherein want to fix accountability of the erring officials, do let me know if I could be of any help
It is a common sight to see posters hammered into trees in our colonies. Surprisingly, the RWAs turn a blind eye to this continuous damage.

I am attaching a picture of posters hammered into a tree outside house number E 173, Greater Kailash 2, New Delhi by Spectra broadband services. Several complaints to the company elicited no response. Is there any penalty against such irresponsible corporates?
