I used Hathway broadband in the past for many years. Even though, the service was sub-par, I had to pay for it as there was no other ISP at my locality. I usually pay for yearly subscription.
In Jan 2019, I had to move to a different place and wanted to shift my internet connection. I called Hathway customer service and informed about the same. But they said, they won't be able to transfer the connection as they are not offering services in that location. I asked them to end the connection and refund the amount as I had more than 6 months subscription left. I needed internet urgently and did not want my work to be disturbed, so I opted for other service which was available at my place.
However, after this, I started receiving numerous calls from Hathway regarding renewing the subscription and informed them about the situation(that they aren't providing services at my location and that I cancelled the service long back). The calls wouldn't stop. This continued for almost two years. In Sep 2020, I received a call from Hathway, that they will send a legal notice, if I did not return the router they provided and asked me to pay Rs. 462 for them to pick up the router. They also said they would be refunding the amount for the unutilized subscription(6 months). So, I paid the amount and raised a request for disconnection and device pickup. No one came to pick the router instead I kept on getting the calls, sometimes at odd hours. It literally felt like harassment. No matter what I said, they would't listen.
These people need to be taught a lesson. I saw several other similar cases here on consumercomplaints.in.
Kindly look into this matter urgently as the customer service is harassing me daily.
