[Resolved]  ICICI Bank — Create More Consumer Awareness on MAB Charges & Avoid TRAP from Sales Reps

Purpose of my Complaint is to create more awareness amongst consumers and to avoid them getting cheated by Bank’s representatives even they are senior officers. I’ve realized my account has been monthly charged with 196 INR a month from Last Dec onwards and I was thinking what went wrong. I’ve followed up with ICICIBank with ref 'ICICICARE=[protected]' and they got back to me only saying please maintain the minimum balance in your account. This was the first time I was asked since I opened the account. My account was always 10K and never faced this issue before. I took retirement recently and all greedy Banks executive approached me on opening relationship with them and ICICI was also one amongst them. When I have visited their branch ONLY for changing my contact details, they have offered me to transfer my account from Indore Branch to Dewas branch. I was not convinced and came back home. Surprisingly, the Branch manager along with a few more executives reached my home and were trying very hard to transfer the account from Indore branch to Dewas and change in to Platinum services. They finally convinced me to do so – My bad. I was about to travel and when I told my son that I’ve done this, he immediately asked me to stop it as it will create unnecessary hassle and all the payee, transfers etc will be stopped. I’ve gone to Dewas branch and asked the branch manager. He didn’t do it immediately. Instead in order to open a new account he tried to bounce the cheques with my old account twice (smart guy). I though the damage was only limited to that. Now what I understood that his team changed my usual saving account to a more privileged account because of which might monthly avg balance should be more than 10K. Now, ICICI Bank being very poor at their customer services can’t feedback this to me. This incident tool place Dec 2013. I need help from this forum to understand more from RBI guidelines that what can be done to prevent retail banks from doing this. I’ve recently saw on newspaper that RBI came up with guidelines that retail bank should stop doing this and not sure if this came under any Act. Any help is appreciated.
