Mts — Mts postpaid internet connection/ extortion despite not giving service by mts, not responding to calls, threats, continuing harassments

This refers to a postpaid data connection no. [protected] in my name taken about a year back. This connection was a 5 gb per month daytime data + 5 gb night data package. During those days i was working from my home on developing content for a private website. I used to work 4-5 hours per day using the connection. (For the type of work i do my past experience before taking mts connection was that i consume 3gb pre-paid data per month). With mts my billing cycle starts from 16th of the month to 15th of next month.

During the days i worked from home i used to get sms/e-mail message from mts on any day between 1st to 7th of each month saying that my 5gb data is finished, and if i want to continue using net i should contact customer care for additional data. Since i wanted my to work uninterrupted, i purchased 2-3 gb additional data every month.

In month of march 2016 i got re-employment in the company i was working years back, the office was about 5 km from my home, resulting in discontinuing the freelanc work i was doing. Thus my data consumption o this connection reduced radically. Hereafter i used to check personal mails sometimes in the night time may be 2-3 hours per week. The rest of time the data card disconnected form and kept in my personal bag which i carry always with me.

The above practice continued from march to may 2016. From june 6 onwards i was transferred to another office which is 25 kilometers away from my residence. From this time i almost stopped connecting the datacard to power.in june & july i used this on sundays for less than 1 hour per week. During these periods – from march to june also i got message between 1st and 7th (Whenever i first connected the device to power) that my data was fully consumed making it impossible to even check a mail.

Now came billing cycle of july 16 to aug 15. I could not get any time to connect the dongle to power, on 6th august i first connected it. Immediately i got message that data limit finished & if i want to use purchase more data.

During these above periods i kept on complaining to customer care department about the above issue, but to no positive answer. On 6th and 7th of august i kept on talking with several persons in their customer care hanging on for hundreds of minutes and burning a lot of money on mobile bill. I could not convince anyone that i did not use data and it was finished in mid of billing cycle. Everybody were speaking parrot-like language without, insensitive to my concerns they made my heart – not answering any of my questions.

At last i requested discontinuation of service. The supervisor of customer care whom i was talking at last on 7th august took my personal details and told me that he is making request for closure of my account and that i will get message within few minutes. I got a message in my mobile that "your request is under process" without referring to the subject.

The following (August) 16th i got bill, but since i have not used any data during the corresponding period i refused to make any payment. Persons from mts offices kept calling me for payment and i explained them that i have not used any data and i got the connection disconnected. This repeated for several months and in the following month also they sent me cumulative bill. Seeing this i called up and enquired why i am receiving bills. They said my connection was suspended for non payment in the previous month and not disconnected as requested by me, and i am liable to pay bill during this period also.

Following that several persons from their call centres bombarded my phone with calls – most talked very ill mannered way, sounding semi literate, in poor language and pronouncing my name "pattaar", "patri", "patel", etc. Which is itself reflective of their service. Later someone called and introduced himself as judge from tiz hazari court and calling on complaint by mts company. I told him go homewards that a judge of a hon'ble court is no servent of a private company to call like this. Later someone called and informed me that he is advocate engaged by the company, and he is going to file civil suit on behalf of mts.

Meanwhile they have sent me an email claiming that i have to pay them rs.1433/- and for final settlement after adjusting security deposit, an amount of rs.1003/- may be paid as full and final settlement. The mail provided a contact number of one ms. Namita for any clarification. I called her up and she assured me that after i pay this amount i will not be disturbed. I informaed her i am making the payment online only to avoid the inconvenience of court case, not because this amount is genuinely payable by me. I also reminded that this is pure extortion threatening court case. She said after making the payment if i wish to continue the service. That same day, ie., on 18 october 2016 i made the payment.

After receiving the payment someone called me up and asked if i wish to continue mts service. Since i have invested rs.1600/- to purchase the datacard and connection, i informed him if someone personally assure the service i can retain the service. He assured me of personal care & said the service will be restored within 1 hour.

I waited for days, but the connection was not restored.in the meantime i tried to call up the persons on their mobile no for an answoer, but none responded to me. They disconnected my calls continuously, therefore i sent text messages to their number. This continued for 3 days, and finally i wanted to tell them not to take any action for restoration of the connection. Since no one was available to pick calls, i sent text message for this also in the numer of ms. Namita.

On 7th november i was travelling in kerala, i got a call from mts call center saying i have still payments due to them. This repeated several times, including today. I tried to talk with ms. Namita but she handed over to other person. While i started to introduce myself, he handed over the phone to the third person. The third person after producing some sound disconnected the call.

Sir/madam, i am harassed, threatened, and extorted money by mts company for no fault of mine and without any valid reason for over a long time. The harassment is continuing without any stoppage i want respite from this.
