I am the proud owner of Regnault Lodgy bearing Registration No.PY 05 D 1102. I am working as a Physics Teacher in a Government Higher Secondary School at Puducherry. This car is the first car for my family/generation and it was bought by me after a very long struggle with my small savings and part of the amount from SBI car loan. I have bought this car from Puducherry Khiviraj Dealer on 05.09.2017.
On 25.04.2018 (Wednesday) at 5 p.m., when we (my wife, son and driver) were returning from Chennai, near Maamallapuram by pass road at Pooncheri village, my car met with an accident. The car which was moving in front o[censored]s in the same direction suddenly got struck and hence stopped without showing any signal/indicator. Though our driver of the car applied the brake, our car dashed at the rear side of the car (Fiat) which was stationary all of sudden on the road due to the engine cheese.
By God’s grace all o[censored]s inside the car were safe and left with muscle pain. This accident caused damage to my car at the front side Bumper, Jewel studded Radiator Guard, Bonnet, side L, Head light and the front left door could not be opened freely. I registered a complaint at Maamallapuram Police Station and after inspection by the Police Officer, I was issued a ‘Damage Certificate’.
The next day ie. on 26.04.2018 (Thursday), the car with damages was given to the dealer for the damage assessment and replacement of the damaged part under the Insurance coverage.
While I purchased the car, I was informed by the dealer that for the first year, free insurance was gifted to me by the dealer and from the second year onwards, I have to pay the insurance. One gentle man from Mumbai reliance company made a call to me after two or three days of the purchase of the car and confirmed my identity and I confirmed that I require only Bumper to Bumper (Full coverage) Insurance that covers 100% cost for the damaged parts.
But now, to my great shock, the Khiviraj dealer says that the free insurance will cover only 50% and I am informed that the plastic parts ie. Bumper and the radiator guard, headlight will not fall under insurance coverage. I am sure that I was not informed in detail in this regard. It gives much mental agony to me and every member in my family who could bear the pain of the accident but could not tolerate this one.
Besides, the dealer today informed me that the metal parts if it is damaged within the six months from the purchase of the vehicle, it would be replaced at free of cost by the car company and added that as it crossed thirty five days, this coverage also will not be extended to my car.
I have received a copy of the estimation of the damage assessed by the surveyor through email, that too was after a long wait, only on 10th May 2018, for an amount of Rs. 1, 62, 191/- (rupees one lakh sixty two thousand one hundred and ninety one only). While I am waiting for the Surveyor’s report about the exact damages caused, and the reply from the Insurance Company, I request your good self to extend all the benefits to my car for three reasons i.) I was cheated by the local dealer regarding the details of the free insurance scheme offered by them. ii) It has just crossed thirty five days to fall under the scheme of free replacement of the metal parts iii) The car has covered less than 8, 500/- k.m. running distance. This is for your kind consideration to bring back smile on all the faces of the members of my family which is in Teaching Profession since the last three generations in Government Schools of Puducherry.
