[Resolved]  Tamilnadu Electricity Board (TNEB) — Excess Billing

My name is Praveen kumar from Kovilambakkam chennai, I am staying in Sundarakand apartment. My regular bi-monthly usage will be around 260 units and will pay INR 610. But the period 17th October 2014 to 22 December 2014 the consumption meter reading raised from 880 to 1640 and consumed 760 units and bill came for INR 3427.50. Which five times more have to pay. Even i dont have AC in my home. I doubt that meter reading noted is wrong. My Service number is [protected]. Please resolve this as soon as possible because payment due date is 5/01/2015.

Dear Sir / Mam,

My home is locked since OCT 2014; but I have receied a bill of Amount Rs.3559. Ideally there should be a minimum payment which should have been charged.

Instead, due to the same meter reading, I was billed Rs.3559 & also the meter status is defective.
Please check & revert back with the corrected amount; so that I cam pay.

I am Bhavani, residing in No.27, Srilakshmi flats, 2nd street, Thirumalai Nagar, Kolathur, Ch-99. During the mid-month of Oct'14 they have changed electronic meter. After which we are getting an excess unit reading metering above 1100 every 2 months. We are living there around 9yrs and during this span of 9 yrs our reading has never crossed 1000 even during the summer season (April, May, June). We have raised the complaint twice, but no proper action was taken. Kindly look into this and solve the issue. Not affordable to pay this huge billing amount which totals to Rs.[protected]/-

Our service no.[protected]. On Jan 2015, new meter has been changed for our house. There is some wiring problem happened while changing the meter. The meter is started to read more units.We don't know about this problem. Our house normal consumption is below 100 units from last 1 year. Also we are using only 4 tube lights, 3 fans, 3 - 60w lamps, 1 Tv, and other normal things except A/c. At the time of reading on march 2015, our usage became 1165 units and bill amount is Rs.6519. We are shocked and forced to pay Rs.6519. We given a complaint in the letter format after paying bill Rs.6519. Since there is a connection problem in meter box, we have called electrician and rectified wiring problem. After rectifying, the meter reading became normal. The Eb wiringman visited after 3 days and enquired about what are the electric things that we are using. He knows that it is not possible to consume these much units for normal home usage.He checked meter, but now the meter reading is ok since the problem has already rectified before he visits. So he informed to Eb office, meter reading is correct. I given a complaint through online, but they simply replied, meter reading correct and our forman is already enquired. Also i called Eb office to inform about this problem since i am not available in native and nobody has picked up call even i tried more than 6 times. As per unit calculation (1 unit = 1 Kwh) and also as per our normal consumption, it is not possible these much units (1165) for 2 months. I am really struggled due to this issue and i couldn't able to work properly and also mentally. So i request you take action on this issue and charge only acceptable amount from last six months bill history and refund Rs.6000/-
I really want to tell one thing, some peoples who are working in Eb office, not caring about other people money. Atleast we somehow managed and paid the amount. In case of very poor pepole, how they will be struggled like this. So please properly response for queries and also please give value to others money. Because money can be get after hard working only. If we lose our money, we only mentally struggling since our money is wasted. I am waiting for my refund. There seems to be real theft or fraudulent activity happening in our past 4 bill cycles. 8am to 8pm house locked but 990 units charged everytime exactly. No matter how many times we post in the Tneb website they would reply meter checked no fault. Sheer cheating. We are paying 6000 everytime. Plus additional security deposit of 4k now. No action. We are helpless. I wish EB was privatized.
To the Authority Concerned,

I am staying in Vada Agaram 1st Street, Bhaghya Appartment, No 29/16.

For the past 1 week we are facing regular issue with the electricity fluctuation & current cut issue.

When we investigate 2 phase is not coming to our building from the EB side. Even the same has been confirmed by the EB person 2 days back and they said they need to dig and rectify the issue.

Since the entire building (12 flats ) is entirely depending on 1 phase. Due over load reason, fuse is getting cut off & spark coming out very frequently.

We are regularly calling these EB board dept and the AEO number also. But they give false commitment to visit our area.

Kindly resolve this issue ASAP before it ends up in short circuit and other major issue.

I have following 3 queries with the details of checking meter reading bi-monthly (Digital meter) (Domestic Meter),

Meter reading noted date - ? (25th or 26th)
Meter reading noted time - ? (00:00 hours to 23:59 hours of which date)
Meter reading measuring unit - ? (KWH or KVAH)

Pls clarify, which one is considered bimonthly to calculate the unit consumption KWH or KVAH and date and time when meter reading is taken for calculation?

But the period 12th November2017 to 12 December 2017 the consumption meter reading raised from 500to 1940 and consumed 1470 units and bill came for INR 8150. Which ten times more have to pay. Even i dont have AC in my home. I doubt that meter reading noted is wrong. Please resolve this as soon as possible because payment due date is 12/11/2017.
