I recently applied for a Database Analyst position at "Birla Software Private Limited" through Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete). After submitting my resume, I was informed that I was shortlisted.
A recruiter contacted me for a telephonic interview, where they asked me questions about SQL, Python, and Excel. After the call, I received a selection email stating that I was offered the job with a package of ₹5.4 - ₹6.3 LPA.
However, they later informed me that I must purchase an IBM ID and IBM SPSS certification from their recommended institute within 24 hours for verification. They claimed that the company would refund the course fee with my first salary.
After researching, I found multiple red flags:
No proper interview process – Only one short phone call.
No technical test – Genuine companies conduct thorough hiring rounds.
Mandatory certification purchase – A real company would never force candidates to pay for certification before joining.
Fake Email Domain – The selection email came from "[protected]@birlasoftware.com, " which does not match the official Birlasoft domain.
Minimalistic Website – The provided website redirected to ckbirlagroup.com, with no real job listings.
Official Birlasoft Website Warns About Fake Hiring Scams – Their career page explicitly warns against such frauds (Birlasoft Fraud Alert).
Many other freshers like me are actively looking for jobs and are falling prey to such scams. This fraudulent company is exploiting desperate job seekers. I request strict action against these scammers and urge job portals like Unstop to verify job listings before posting them.
