Cabbazaar — Unethical behaviour, intimidation, lies.

I booked a taxi for myself, and my child from Chandigarh to Dharamshala and the online price was 4500, I paid 600 upfront to make the booking, leaving 3900 to pay. The taxi was booked for 10.30pm.
First the driver was an hour late, then he told his his car wouldn’t start so we were using a different car, but the price would be 8500 rupees on top of our deposit. We refused and called the company, whilst the driver stood laughing at us. FIVE times they told me the driver would accept the 3900 and FIVE times the driver refused to take us. He even sent his friend who was with him to bring 4 more men in the hope of intimidating us into paying. Eventually, after arguing for an hour, the company said they would get us another car within an hour and as compensation, there would be no further charge other than the deposit we paid. We agreed and sat waiting in the freezing railway station. At midnight they rang me and said they couldn’t arrange a car until the morning. I hung up without replying and frantically tried to find a hotel nearby for the night. When I arrived, I rang the company again and they said they would send a car in the morning, but they went back on their promise and said I would have to pay the full price. When the driver arrived the next morning everything seemed fine then halfway through the journey the driver told us the road to our hotel was too narrow for cars and we'd have to walk the final 3 km. We refused. I phoned the hotel and they assured me than cars, vans and even buses have no problem accessing their hotel. The driver still insisted, even after talking to the hotel owner, who surely knows the roads well. Eventually we had to tell the driver if he didn't take us right to the hotel we wouldn't pay him. He took us, but insisted on going a different way as he still wouldn't believe the hotel owner, or google maps, or photos of the front of the hotel with large vans outside, and then had the cheek to ask for more money as he'd taken a longer route. I am shocked at how bad this company is. Because of them I had to pay Rs1500 for a hotel room and an auto to take me to find the hotel. I want the company to compensate me for that and to honour their original offer of no charge. The only offer they have made is a voucher off my next booking with them for Rs200 – as if I would ever book with them again after this charade! It is insufficient to even cover my added expenses, never mind the distress they caused me and my child.
