Canara Bank — Exchange of notes | |||||
Sir, I withdrew last week Rs14000 from my sb a/c with canarabank saligramam branch and I was given rs2000notes for rs12000 and balance rs2000 as rs100notes. I returned from Delhi after a stay of one month and returned back to my houseon 11th nov morning only. Today I went tothe branch and requested him to exchange rs6000 ie rs2000 notes into three and asked him to give me rs500 notes for 4000 and rs100 notes for rs2000. Thw manager told me that he can give me only rs1000 as hundred rupee notes and there is no five hundred notes to be given despite my requests (I am aged 71 years) he refused to give rs100 notes for rs2000notes. It is more than 10 days since demonitasation and the news has come that new500 rupees have come and it is being distributed to all banks. The RBI should give instructions to all banks to distribute rs500new notes to genuine customers and can stipulate a reasonable maximumamount per person. while welcoming thedeminitasation and good number of bank staff are coperating withthegeneral public, the attitude of the Sr Manager of this branch is not in line with the govt thinking. He may be suitably advised to change his attitude and help the general public in the hour of temporary crisis of small notes. regards y Was this information helpful? | |||||
