Central Board Of Secondary Education [CBSE] — In reference to one question of board exam science 2024

With all due respect, I would like to draw your attention towards today's paper i.e 2/3/24 science paper 2024I have been preparing for this paper for a long time, even before coming to class 10 hoping to get a perfect score and I have worked with all my abilities to do so.I want to tell you that I live in Assam and I got the science paper of Code no. 31/4/1 Set-1. Hopefully, my paper was excellent and I thank you and god that it was really a great paper and I would also like to express my gratitude to the paper designers. However, my dream of getting a perfect score is left behind for a single question that is Q. no 37 'B' (a one marker question). The question was not framed properly due to which I had to answer it differently with making my own hypothesis, almost everyone giving that paper who was well prepared faced the same problem. The question says 'Which metal did not react with dilute hydrochloric acid? Give reason" But the mentioned metals in the question were magnesium, aluminum and iron, and it was also mentioned they were rubbed by sandpaper. So, I had to make my hypothesis that Aluminum oxide is a passive layer which can be removed by sanding machine and not by sand paper because it is highly passive. I wrote somewhat based on how aluminum would not react because aluminum containers are still used to store acids in some cases, and it is even mentioned in ncert exempler if I recall correctly. While many others wrote "all metals react, since they have higher reactivity than hydrogen and it will be a simple acid metal reaction" which is also true. I realize that I had to write all metal reaction part, because it seemed more appropriate but the issue is that the question itself asks "which metal" as per english "which" would mean asking for information specifying one thing from a definite set. I am facing a lot of regret and hopelessness because of this single question because it was something I knew, and it is also something which is helding me back from my dream and many others as well due to the framing of the question. As a result, even though it is morally wrong to make a demand regarding a question framing since it is science and we have to use logic but this is something I truely request you to look into the matter and take a desicion which would justify the dreams and hard work of the children. Better yet, I and many others would be very grateful if you could award marks for mentioning either of that answer since a child has made the effort to think but answer with aluminum should only be correct if the child has given reason with the help of Aluminum oxide(Al2o3) as its justifiable.

Thanking you
Yours faithfully,
