Central Board Of Secondary Education [CBSE] — Students mental health

Address:Delhi

Greetings to whoever reads this
I am a commerce student of a private school in Delhi who aspires to be in one of the top colleges from DU( eco hons.)
It is great that the cbse boards have been cancelled. But I guess the whole CBSE was engaged in solving the ‘12th boards’ situation and therefore could not see the other problems. I would like to throw some light on the problems which the batch 2022(the one which has just entered 12th standard). So our day starts with 5 hours of ONLINE CLASSES. No matter how hard anyone tries they can not turn out to be as interactive as normal classes. In between these classes, teachers threaten us to open our cameras and answer and they say if we don’t do so they will cut our marks, the marks which unfortunately decide our future. In breaks too we do not have as much freedom as we have to keep checking the time. If we even join the class 5 mins late the teacher doesn’t allow us to go enter the class. After all the classes we have to do the assignments and project work given by the school. Also let me tell you in 12th standard, children minimum have 3 tuitions which one can not avoid due to the competition level in India. After attending 3-4 hours of tuition we have their homeworks to do. And after all this we have to do self-study. If you cannot find any problem in all of this just please imagine if you were in our situation where you cannot go out freely, you have forgotten what human touch is, you see people of your age getting into depression, you start having anxiety attacks, your future seems blur, you cannot find any reason to work hard, your family is coping with the loss of a relative, there is no reason left to be happy about. And let me tell you we are not even free on weekends. Because we have to study for CUCET about which CBSE has not released any information like the syllabus and the criteria and everything. Like the boards was not enough pressure for the children that there was need for CUCET. Honestly at first I was very happy about CUCET, because it will lead to fair admissions but I also thought that the syllabus will be reduced also. But no. Syllabus is entirely the same. I would say it is now even more because of all the changes you are doing in your examination patterns. And you are saying that CUCET holds 50% weightage in your admissions so it has to be taken as seriously as normal studies. Also you have just introduced applied maths and not given any information about it. There is no NCERT book for it as well. And let me tell you about mental health of people of my batch. I am not exaggerating, but apart from 3-4 people, every single person is dealing through anxiety, depression, panic attacks etc. It breaks my heart to see my friends who are just 17 year olds to go to therapists because of our education system. And this whole message is just a gist of what we have to go through. Is 16-17 age really that old to take this much pressure? Do we deserve to go through mental health issues at this age? Can anyone help us and get us out of this concentration camp- like system where you are not even allowed to breathe?
Here are some of the solutions I would recommend:
1) Give full information about CUCET and Applied Mathematics
2) Introduce deletions
3) Introduce the system of mid semester breaks of 1-2 weeks
4) Be our friend not our enemy.
