[Resolved]  ashirwad atta — phenyl smell

Address:Mumbai Suburban, Maharashtra

I had purchased Ashirwad Atta (10 kg) from Subodh Provision Stores, Jogeshwari (West) last month. After using for 2-3 days, I found a very strong smell of naphthalene ball in the atta. I had to throw a lot of atta or else this could have adversely affected my children's health. I complained to the shopkeeper and asked him to replace the same. Neither the shopkeeper nor the retailer are ready to replace it. I will discontinue using this atta, if necessary action is not taken at the earliest I'll complain to the higher authorities.

we keep going to ndia from time to time. What most people don´t notice is that really many of the foodstuffs carry that phenyl odor - for ex. bakery items (bread, pastries, patties..) of for ex. dallia. phenyl wash is being used so much that virtually everything carries this smell. (this was similar in former East Germany - but noticed only be western visitors..). What I don´t know is whether the smell - besides being very unpleasant - is actually dangerous.
Most Indian traders are cheats, unreliable and untrustworthy and indeed petty minded unfit for international trade. I had to threaten one with the evidence of finger prints before I could get the product replaced. Most of them are crooks without any business ethics and it is repeating at all the the time. These are beasts without any conscience.
