Barclays Credit Card — No Statements & Late Payment Penalty + Interest Charges

I have been a customer of Barclays Bank for about a year now using their Gold Credit Card. Pls note that I am also their Priority Circle Member for which I had to pay a hefty amount of Rs. 5000 on a promise that they would give me Reward Points on that amount (false promise). The strange thing happening with me is that I do not receive my credit card statements but am asked to make the payment on the basis of the SMSes that I keep on getting to make the payment of a particular amount with no details. If one doesn't pay that (obviously one is not a fool to pay before seeing the details of the expenses one is billed for) amount, he/she is charged for late payment (penalty) as well as the interest on the outstanding amount. On top of that, they send SMSes saying that the statment has been delivered on _____ date with __________AWB no. (fake no. of course) as I never received those statements by courier. When I called the 'customer care' several times to lodge my complaints, they had no answer. Surprisingly, they do not have a facility of 'online statements' which one could download and print, which even our national banks also have. I then asked them to send my statements on my e-mail. Only once did I receive a statement on my e-mail and that also after 15 days of the due date. They asked me to make the 'minimum payment' saying that I would not be charged any penalty or interest charges once I make the payment for the minimum amount. I just do not understand how this bank is functioning in our country with such a poor set up and lousy services. They should better assess themselves if they want to do serious business in India.

my due date of payment was 25th decemer and i droped my cheque at grover electronic at lajwanti chowk new delhi on 22december 2008 but i recived the late payment fee from the brclays bank
i am not able to pay late its not my fault because i droped my cheque before 4 days but why i recive a late fee charge
pls look on this matter care fully

I am 100 % agree to you as this is the same situation with me. I think this is the way they make money they are the chiters there officers agrees to wave the different charges like late payment and interest amount but even after there confirmation the statement shows all the charges and they just repeat the same thing you make minimum payment and all the charges will be waved in next bill and you will never get the statement. I am trying since last 6 months for the statement they have made several time confirmation of my add and many time agree that it's there fault and amount should be reversed but in actual this never been done. seriously i smell big scam of chiting and makking money by the use of this type of tactics i think our consumer forum should look in to this matter. So in short this one is not trust worthy at all.
I completely agree with you as this same has been happening with me and even after talking to their customer care reps, all i got to hear is that you make the payment the statement would be sent.
