Hi All,
Same here from last few months I am facing the sam problem and BSNL don't understand the problem what they say is the DSL link(light blinker) is ON means everything is fine from their side.
It high time and BSNL need to be privatise and replace the entire technical and office staff.

Hello all,
I had incorporated the same issue. This happened when i was re-installing my OS and teh drivers. Windows XP will default have dial up connection as primary. You need to try this option
Open IExplorer -> Tools-> Internet Options -> Connections tab...select the option "Never dial a connection"
and save
The issue is that while installing OS drivers, Windows XP will default load dial up connection and set this as primary mode of connecting to the Net
