Can any one tell which bank provides salary account for capgemini India?
Hi,
I am also work in Capgemini. I agree with the above thought that there should some restriction on companies for changing any policy favouring only themseolves. At the time recession when they wanted to fire employees notice period was change to one month from three month. This saved their money as lesser amount was to be paid to fired employee. Now when scenario changes and they wanted to retain more and more employees the policy has been changed to 3 months. Though the policy will come effect from 1st June'10. however any employee resigning before 1st June'10 his/her notice period would be decided by Manager. Logically If I think no prior notice was given to us before implementing this policy.
There should be some law to protect us from these acts.

Above, both: While I understand your concern and empathize with your situation, I think ( I don't work for CG), there are 2 sides to it. Any organization exist to make money/revenue/profits and have to make business based decisions, which might not sit well with some or more than few. It's tough to satisfy all in any given situation, be it in a personal circumstance or professional.
While I suggest, think in terms of your employer and not just the other way. Ofcourse, right expectation should be set, before making drastic changes, but that may not be possible in all situations, given the dynamic conditions, that we may not know of. There might be a HR failure here, who should have had a open-house with the employees before going formal. To be fair, this is not too big of a change to have an open-house!
Switching company as a knee-jerk reaction is not a wise thing to do. It would hurt in the long run. I don't see a mistake where a dev is asked to document. That shows inflexibility on part of the employee. Was he a born dev? I doubt it. At the same time, if it prolongs, then there is an issue and won't work for both ( you have a low morale, under performing employee who is not effective).
I would suggest these:
1) Bring up the issues with your direct manager.
2) If the immediate manager is not accessible or open to discussion/inflexible/unfair, talk to his/her manager
3) If #2 does not work or if you are not satisfied, talk to the HR
4) If none of the above work, act or think like a leader and try to take control of the situation (your action might help your friends/colleagues too), talk to a senior executive and explain of the situation. More often than not, the top management do not know what is going on at the root level. You might be doing a great service to your employer who brings food to your table and your families and friends/families.
5) Work is workship.Do all that you can to stay happy and give back. You are not working at Capgemini for the sake of your manager or anybody else. You work, because you like the culture, like doing what you do/did etc. So there is more to it than, I am asked to do this, policy changed etc.
6) Worse case scenario - if all failed/none of the above worked and you have to leave the company, find an employer who is willing to pay up the notice period (and most MNCs do/at least used to). If you are a worthy candidate, your new employer would not think twice to do that!
All the best. Hope my suggestions/thoughts help.

I am also Working in Capgemini for last 2 years.I resigned Last Week, my new employer is ready to buy out the noice period but my manger is not ready to release me and insist me on to serve for 3 months as per the compnay policy. What solution can you suggest now?????????
I face the same challenges as anshmak. It seems like a very bad case of an organization which is lost in the current times and not wanting to accept its failure in either assessing this early or managing it now. By forcing employees to leave and denying option to buyout the notice period is an alltime low for even Capgemini!
Here is a piece of good and positive reference

I am working with Genpact and facing the same issue. There is a company's discrition in my offer letter. Now they made a change in the policy and asking people to server the 3 month notice period.

Subject: Change in Notice Period
Dear all,
With effect from August 21st & till further notification, the notice period of termination of employment (for all permanent employees) has been increased from current 2 months to 3 months for Grade 2 & above.
For all other grade like S1, S2 & Grade 1, notice period will be 2 months.
Notice period during Probation will remain as 1 month for all grades.

This HR is a witty crackpot..

Can a notice period be changed by just sending an email. In that case, I can also send an email saying my notice period wef from xxx date is xx days. I think there should be a hard copy of an agreement which voids previous agreements/or complements if at all there is a policy change.
I agree with all the above unfortunate Capgemini employees. Capgemini as on date seems to have lost it in the race of competition and recession. Today when other companies are able to revive themselves and forming employee benefit programs to retain them, Capgemini is only able to come with some stupid and unethical policies. First they increased the notice period to 3 months and as that was not enough they have gone ahead to force the employees to serve the entire notice period. Not letting him to avail either the buy out or leave adjustment option which are otherwise listed in Capgemini policy documents. Moreover to save its face in the corporate world, Capgemini nowhere mentions this as its policy that "Serving 3 months notice period is mandatory".
I feel that these steps will not at all prevent employees from leaving and moving on but will definitely hamper there decision of coming back to Capgemini if given a chance in future.
I think its time Capgemini wakes up and moves ahead as I am sure these policies will also prove financially destructive for the company. After all paying salary to a huge pool of employees just for sitting on bench and doing nothing is not easy for any company.

Thanks for detail. It will help me in taking decision of joining the comapny or not.
Even asking employees to leave is fine but one of the most shameful act in the corporate world that Capgemini did in 2009 was forcing employees to resign by giving them only 1 month of notice pay even though the employees had 3 months of notice pay in their offer letters. This is illegal for companies to change notice period just by sending out an email. Searching on Google about "Capgemini notice period" will show you the details of the scandal. This is a well documented scandal covered by some news sites.
Hi All,
I think we need to come together and fight for this atrocity.
Recently some employees of a major IT company of Pune came together and filed a lawsuit for the exactly similar situation. And now that company has reverted the notice period.
We can consult some good lawyer teach a lesson to Capgemini. These companies are taking the advantage that their employees are not united.
If you also think similar to me then please send me a mail at cool.[protected]@rediffmail.com
Thanks,
Rajesh
