Fraudulent encashment of bank drafts of Rs-400000.00 issued by everest bank ltd,j/v with Punjab national bank.
we purchase four demand drafts nos.88297086 to[protected] dt 08.10.2009 of Rs-100000.00 each from everest bank ltd(joint venture bank with punjab national bank,india)in the name of national road carrier.kolkata and sent the same through indo asia courior p.ltd,birgunj.after non receiopt of draft by beneficiary we confirm with courior and know that the draft document was misplaced.as soon as we known we intimated the fact to draft issuing bank on 14.10.2009 requesting them mark "stop payment" on these drafts and issue us duplicated drafts in lieu of lost drafts.the bank pleased to issue stop payment instruction on 15.10.2009 between 09.10 am to 09.13 am on the punjab national bank site and issue us duplicate draft after completing the necessary formality of taking an indemity bond.on received of fresh draft beneifciary got credit of same in their account.that all sudden on 16.03.2010 we were intimated by everest bank ltd that the original draft were cashed by some unauthorised firm namely bational road carriers through andra bank,kolkata main branch,4-B,Ezra Street...through Punjab national bank,31,J.N.Nehru Road,Kolkata though a stop payment instruction was duly issued by them and the bank demand rs-400000.00.the value of duplicate draft be paid back.
