[Resolved]  GM India Chevrolet Spark — Defective CAR right at the time of delivery from showroom-Unreliable brakes (Break hardening) , noisy axle, automatic race paddle pulling by engine

Sub: (1)Frequent Brakes failure due to brake hardening (2) Noisy right front wheel axle on second day of delivery (3) Very poor mileage (4) Bonnet not properly aligned fixed (5) No help from Metro workshop ( 6) No quality control.

(1) UNRELIABLE BRAKES: Frequent Brakes failure due to brake hardening: It has been noted that car has been allowed to roll out from factory with several manufacturing defects. One most important fault is in breaking system of car which is immediately found after delivery of car while taking home, as after every 10-15 breaking break paddle gets stopped breaking function/action in single press and vehicle is rolling without break. You may assume and realise the DEVASTATING situation when you are driving in congested traffic OR at higher speed say 50-60 Kmph. Advise me includes all customers that your vehicle is manufactured only for a speed limit 20 Kmph and customers have to rely upon hand breaks. It seems all new customers also required to undergo some specialized training in your workshops to learn how to apply breaks of SPARK-PS car. For two times car has been shown to METRO workshop Vasant Kunj New Delhi, their maneuvering here & there has not solved out the problem till date. It also clearly evident that no trial run taken after assembly of car has been done otherwise why the customer suffer with the serious fault which is not less than his own life threatening DANGEROUS RISK while driving CHEVROLET car, at the same time this faulty car also posing risks to other road users.(*It may also be noted that the breaking system of vehicle without engine assisted are 100% reliable(eg.Maruti 800 car segment), two wheeler's including bicycle's breaking system( break levers directly connected to break shoes by means of multiple twisted wires or metal rod of 3-4 mm diameter) could be seen 100% reliable. This highly unreliable engine assisted breaking system exists only with SPARK 1.0 PS sold to the applicant on 8th April 2010.)

(2) Noisy right front wheel axle on second day of purchase : Heavy NOISE has been developed on second day of purchase that is right when car was taken out from METRO Vasant Kunj Showroom. Showroom person witnessed were ( a) Mr Jha ( b) Mr Mahender ( c) Mr Marwaha

(3) Very poor mileage: The car has been delivered at 15 Kms (meter reading) when the meter reads 300 Kms mark the car has consumed 60 liters of petrol. I don’t need to explain anything you may calculate easily the mileage is approximately less than 5Kms/liter of fuel. I have already visited 4 times to METRO workshop but they fail to help the customer anyway.

(4) Bonnet not properly aligned fixed : The Bonnet of car has not fixed properly about one centimeter space could be easily seen between Head-lights and bonnet, it has been informed to METRO the same is yet to be attended.

( 5) No quality control: This is not the only vehicle I purchased, if I compare CHEVROLET INDIA, I found GM India SPARK's QC /QA (quality control/ quality assurence) is WORST, and beyond comparison.

This information has been sent to Highest Authorities G.M. India, who are still inactive to address the consumer problem to withdraw the defective piece . Brakes are still failing (as on 11th July 2010) to stop the CAR due to uncertain hardening. Their marketing people has visited and tested the vehicle with crude method without any equipment and machine. Now the Highest authority says that car is perfectly working and they are unwilling to do anything with problems mentioned above.

Please take up the matter in consumer's interest and my request to GM India to take this defective car back and refund all cost paid with interest (on cost paid) accrued w.e.f. 8-April-2010 as per prevalent market rates.

Sad that i did not read this before the purchase and sorry to see that the Management is not taking action to correct this . Is there any way to see that the GM rectify's this problem, Also i see that the some black fluied flows out of both the front wheels.
i am agree with this notification because i am also owner of this faulty car. i have a spark ps1, and i also face this brake failing condition since last 6-7 months ago. after this issue all staff member of kalyan auto sales agra u.p. are not supporting me but they stand against me and says you may take legal action against our service center and chevrolet too.
so i would say to you that never purchase this bloody brake fail/your life end car named spark, if you think that company bring a best service.
its totaly fraud...
so sad...
