[Resolved] ICFAI University — No fraud regarding UGC approval | |
I think there is no fraud or missleading things about the ICFAI University recognition. The ICFAI University has been approved by the University Grants Commission, under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the ICFAI University, Tripura. The Distance Education Council accords recognition to the Universities / Institutions to offer programmes through Distance Mode and it is for the Statutory bodies of the Universities / Institutions concerned to decide what programmes to be offered through distance mode. For technical / professional programmes the Universities / Institutions are expected to seek approval from the Apex bodies like AICTE, NCTE, etc. wherever it is required. And people are shouting for not having AICTE approval.
They should know any University established by an Act of Central Government or State Government does not require AICTE approval for conduct of technical courses. Only technical institutions require approval of AICTE. AICTE Act 1987-Section 3(h) defines technical institution as an Institution, not being a University, which offers courses or programmes of technical education. The Supreme Court has ruled that it is not mandatory for a University created under an Act, to seek approval of AICTE. So, obviously ICFAI University programs do not require AICTE recognition moreover.
