[Resolved]  Kolkata Police — Noise pollution

We are facing a similar situation at Dharmatala Road, Kolkata - 39, at a place called Kali company, where local boys are playing loud speakers at full volume. Requests made elicit a proud reply that 'we have taken permission from the Police, you can call them if you want... the 'loud' sound will continue.. the volume will not be decreased!' What do we do?

My name is Pushan Chakraborty.This mail is to draw your immediate attention towards, the menace of sound pollution in our locality, ie. 177/15 Picnic Garden road kolkata-39.The trial of crackers have already started since friday ie. 9th November and will as expected reach its culminating point on 13th of November. evening.Please take appropriate action to stop the menace in and around the locality .With special attention in the lanes and bylanes.

This is regarding noise pollution in our area at G340 Maher Manzil, Garden Reach Kolkata 700024. In front our residence few grill making shops have been opened (they are making window grill and shutters) and making continuous noise which is intolerable, even I cannot do any piece of work on computer sitting at my home. This is regarding SOUND POLLUTION in KESTOPUR MISSION BAZAR(KOL: 102). I don't know if this is a fashion or not, but for each and every incident(be it 15th august or Holi, Janmasthami or Eid, 23rd Jan or Chat) mike/sound box set by some people/group and they tune it to INTOLERABLE MAXIMUM VOLUME(all day, upto late night). And if there is no such festival, then local kali temple starts their own mikes, OF COURSE at MAXIMUM VOLUME.This is a regular culture of KESTOPUR MISSION BAZAR(Kol: 102).
From today(16/08/2013) again there is 12 days mela till Janmasthami on 28/08/2013, and some 10-15 mike has started their screaming, and as i'am feeling unbearable so writing this complain.

Every body is get affected like sleeplessness, low concentration, unhappiness. They don't obey minimum scence of citizenship, even they do it at late night, at time of 10th class exam, at time of +2 level exam, at time of JEE, at time of IIT exam...No matter. They just play SOUND BOX/ and set mikes at high
Sir please do something, please give them a lesson about 60db concept.

A public Meeting is going to be held in this evening, and mics are put on every lamppost, within close periphery, within the residential area, far from the actual place of meeting. The mic-testing has already created a noisy cacophony. Ours is a blind lane and two mics are hanging on front of our windows from two direction. How to survive? There are children having board exams ahead, there are elderly people with week hearts and health. It's ridiculous because if one has to listen to the program or the speech they can always go to the premises. No need to forcefully make us listen, at the cost of ear and health. The sound is beyond 45 dB/Leq which is mandatory for residential area. Please act as quick as possible. Otherwise this will become a habit and parties will take it for granted, we, the peaceful residents have to pay for it.

I would like to inform that, one of my neighbors appointed some carpenter to build some furniture for their flat. These generate unbearable sound which is affecting us. We have requested them to shift their work to other site so that sound produced during the procedure becomes less. But they do not want to compromise and the work is still going on.
Will you please let me know that what are the required steps to stop this sound pollution or whom do we contact for this?

I am a resident of HARMOHAN GHOSH LANE, PHOOLBAGAN area.. The main problem is few people are bursting high noise more than 90db crackers since after diwali till today in odd hours. It Continues through out the night. Even now when I'm writing this. Time is 5.36am.many elderly people stay here and myself I'm a migraine patient not able to sleep for past 3-4days.on moreover there is a children's hospital near by. How can people atleast not think of patients in there. Please help.

This is regarding frequent noise pollution & nuisance created by the functions & festivals at Taltala Math near EEDF Hospital has made life miserable of nearby residents. The temporary set up for the functions/festivals are being carried out at the mid night which makes huge noises. We couldn't even sleep due to this construction sound. We are really getting sick slowly day by day for these sleeplessness due to this sound.

Besides the function are also making huge noises with DJ etc..which is also disturbing the patients, students..

All the families closer to this field really are in deep problem..

Large loudspeakers are used in an event near us on kalipuja related function. Loud music is still on and it is 12:20 am. Kindly look into the matter at the earliest.

I'm a resident of ekta heights, raja subhodh chandra Mullick road, block to 4a, kolkata -700032. For the past 2 years the appartment just below us are having reconstructing and the noise is unbearable. My grandmother is bedridden and she is old. Me and my brother are preparing for our exams but it's impossible to study here. I'm having terrible headaches and feel dizzy all afternoon because of the noise. We have complained time and again about this to the authorities in charge in our housing complex but they did absolutely nothing. Please look into the matter as fast as possible.

This is regarding noise pollution in our area at Paharpur Road, Garden Reach Kolkata 700024 from Kacchi Sadak to Ram Nagar Lane. All night some people making continuous noise which is intolerable, some contractors spill there sand or stone for home making purpose in front of our houses and they make noise whole night, some local resident play music at full volume till 3.00 am morning like Shahzada Medical when we ask them to slow the music they began to fight. Please do something and get rid of these things as early as possible. I can't reveal my identity because if they come to know about me I could be in trouble.

Have been facing issues from nearby area where loudspeakers are being played whole night and it is getting difficult to lead a normal life. I have a severe COPD patient at home and there are many kids in the complex who am sure have schools to attend! Can you please help.
