[Resolved] Moksha — Fraud/Very bad customer service

Moksha is a store which is situated on cathedral road in chennai. They claim to sell designer clothes but are faking a lot of top designers in India. They sell sarees, ghagras, salwa kammez and also sell stuff for men. They COPY all the designs from TARUN TAHILIYANI, SABASACHI, MANISH MALHOTRA and various top designes in India. They sell each piece for about Rs.50000/- to over a lakh.
The customer service is also very poor and treat the customers in a indecent manner. They are heavily priced and and force the customers to buy them at anycost.I bought a saree from them for Rs.23, 000/- whic they claimed is a designer piece and which will not be available anywhere in india and exclusively made by their inhouse designers.BUT IT WAS SHOKING FOR ME TO SEE THE SAME SAREE IN ROSHANLAL WHICH IS ALSO LOCATED IN THE SAME ROAD FOR JUST Rs.5000/-
I was really shocked and i sincerely request everybody who want to get clothes to check out all the stores and then buy.
PLEASE DONT GET FOOLED FROM MOKSHA AS I WAS!!!

I too agree that Moksha is a fraud shop. I too had bought a salwar set and after one wash, the colour ran. Naturally I went back to she shop with the set and the shop manager told me to leave the dress behind. But till today, they have not bothered to even call, let alone replace. Their customer service is bad. They don't have the courtesy to even call and ever since I have never gone back to the shop where they seem to sell fake stuff. How can a costly salwar set's colour run? This is totally atrocious. It is better for customers to check their quality before buying as they seem to sell fake stuff, and when we go back to them, they care too hoots about their customer. Lousy shop. Customers BE AWARE!!!
You are absolutely right. About 2 years ago, we bought about 10 sarees and 8 shawls from this crap shop. The shawls were about 800 rupees. There were presents for my friends in Melbourne. Being a high profile shop, I did not bother to check the shawls. When I returned to Australia, to my utter surprise, I found 2 of the shawls torn. In that instance, I did write to them immediately and was promised by the Sales manager or some bull manager that they would exchange the shawls. To my luck, my husband went back to India in 6 months time and took the shawls along with him, When he presented his case and the letter to them, they had the audacity to tell him that if he buys more items, they would give a 10% off on his purchase. What a crap and the sales personnel were very rude to him. In anger, he just threw the shawls and walked away. This is a customer who spent about AUD 5000. I recommend to all consumers never step into that shop. one because of of faulty/damaged products. Two extremely bad customer service. They only look at your money jiggling and once they know they are in trouble, they bounce around showing their true colours. Do not even bother going there. Pothies, Nallies and other shops are much better and cheaper.
I was under the impression that I was the only unfortunate sucker to shop in Moksha regularly paying the exorbitant price for their sarees. I was being sucked in by their yarn that Moksha is an exclusive saree shop and you won't find their collection anywhere else. I was shocked to find the same sarees for a fraction of the cost elsewhere and with much better service. Well, we learn everyday don't we????

Melbon Dude — Bad customer care service

They have extremely bad customer care service, they didn't accept there Handset fault, all they blame you about the fault Handset have. Even its IMEI no. is a fraud, it's not valid according to TRAI, my mobile is not working after Chinese handsets are banned.
Melbon is worst in terms of handsets but good in fake commitments.

Strange!!! I am from Boston and we visit Moksha, every time we go to India. Our experience with them has always been good. Quite recently we bought some saris for my relatives, here in US from Moksha. I never had any problem. Also when my daughter exchanged one of her saris, she was only dealt with accommodating staff. Since our experience with them has been good, i wonder if this complaint is one of the those freak incidents that always happen everywhere and anywhere. My husband is one of the leading business man in India and here (US), hence amongst our circle of friends and family we are very fussy about where and what we wear - going by that, i can tell you i have never heard any such complaints before from anyone. We were all shocked and we feel sorry for the customer who had to face a situation like this.
Mrs. Namitha, they have seen the money that u people carry... and i[censored] r regular customer im sure they ll fall on ur feet...they r like that...after a lot of my friends suggesting me that moksha is the best place to shop for a wedding occassion, i had been there last week to see if there is stuff that im looking out for so that i can round up on one shop to do my marriage purchase and later inform my parents to come to chennai to do that complete shopping as they stay in another city...it started off with horrible customer service...i hated the guy...and still hate him...v were sitting there waiting for the salesman to show us sarees and he was happily smiling and chatting to someone over his phone for almost 10 mins, which is bad customer serivice...not even replying for the "excuse me's" we were shouting out on him... v got really pissed and my fiance shouted at him and told him to keep down his phone...after that he showed us just 2 sarees and the rest v had to ask him to take out and show... though i loved the sarees i called my mom at once and told her that i want my marrige purchase done over there...immediately the guy started talking too much as i dint buy anything that day and tried to justify that his talking over the phone was not wrong as v weren't going to buy anything...i felt like slapping him...its my marriage, and i have all the rights to go to different places to see if i like the stuff there...i decided my purchase wud be there and is that not enough for that ?? my parents are coming down to chennai soon and v r going there for shopping and i soooo wish he is thrown out of his job...or im going to tell them how ppl hate their customer service... i was soooooo happy to see this forumm...thanks guys...
Well..Well..I am from Dubai, i have been there quite few times on my visit to Chennai. This place was recommended through from word of mouth only. We people from abroad demand more attention i think. In India customer service is generally bad. Especially from shops like these we demand more. Nalli or Pothis etc...we don't have these hassles at all because we are aware of what we will get. Anyway guys if you have good memories go ahead and shop - if you don't just don't waste time mouthing about it because i am sure its not going to make any difference to anyone. As Namitha says its individual experience. Good Luck to people who have belief in Moksha and also people who don't, but looking for better shops out there.
Am I allowed to review a place that I work at? Anyway, I will have to agree with some of the reviews. The customer service is a little sub par...that is if you are comparing Moksha (a small locally owned boutique) to a bigger corporate store, which we are not.

I feel I am generally as nice as my customers. We're not the GAP, Zumiez, Urban Outfitters or any of those big stores where the employees are basically forced to butter up each and every customer that comes through the door. Our philosophy is this...if you need help, you'll ask for help, and we'll give help. We aren't going to bother you or breathe down your neck when you're browsing.

I understand that it might seem a little rude that we're behind the counters on our lap tops, reading our magazine, or minding our own business, but don't mistake that for being rude...we are just letting people do their thing. We figure a majority of our customers are ADULTS and don't need a sales associate to hold their hand throughout their shopping experience. Not that we don't mind that, but if you want that...SPEAK UP. Honestly, like I said earlier...we aren't that kind of business that most customers are used to. We have even changed our policy of checking in customers bags, because we don't want to bother them.

And if customers actually took the time to talk to us like normal people without this "I'm the customer respect me I have money" complex, then they might realize that we are a group of intelligent, friendly, helpful people who will probably give them a 30% discount just for being awesome. Trust me, we give these 30% discounts to a lot of loyal customers who take the time to talk to us and be cool and not judge us because we aren't kissing their like most stores.

And for the prices...I agree...some things have gone up drastically over the years, but that's due to some of the new lines and brands we carry. We wanted to try to diversify the store from carrying items from Thailand, to also carrying more high end boutique street wear. Right now, I will have to say we are carrying a pretty wide selection of cheap threads, mainly for women though. And we always have the $10 bin that's filled with goodies...so check it out.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear the air a bit on this store. We aren't rude, we just don't kiss peoples asses. We might be quiet, but keep in mind you're a person who can talk to US too. So try that next time before you open your little mouths on rude service.

Thanks.
Many of my friends have purchased their wedding saris from moksha. But this kind of experience was never told by them.I think everybody has their own views and as they say OPINIONS DIFFER...but i heard they ve got lots of good collections...
I am very pleased with MOKSHA's service and staff. I recently bought few salwars and sarees fom MOKSHA really one of a kind pieces, totally beautiful and exquisite designer pieces excellent and helpful staff. I only shop at MOKSHA they are simply THE BEST!!!
MOKSHA AS NAME SAYS A LOVELY PLACE TO SHOP IT WAS GREAT SHOPPING HERE AS WE KNOW EVERY PERSON HAS INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE AND WE CANNOT COME TO A CONCLUSION ONLY BY 4 OR 5 COMMENTS I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE SHOPPING HERE AND I SUGGEST PEOPLE TO FEEL THEMSELVES THAT IT IS GREAT AT TIMES IT IS SO CROWDED THAT WE DONT GET PLACE TO STEP IN AND IT IS BECAUSE OF ALL THOSE HAPPY CUSTOMERS GOOD PEOPLE EXCELLENT STOCK AND GREAT PRICES THERE ARE FEW PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD WHO CAN NEVER BE SATISFIED DO WHAT FOR THEM KAMLESH BANGLORE
I love the collections they have in Moksha. They have got Ultimate and Unique stuff and worth paying for all those collections. I did my wedding shopping here. I am saying this from my Heart... Customer Service was excellect.
Shopped at Moksha twice or thrice - once today and also two years ago. Was shopping for men's clothes as well as salwar's and found that they do have products thjat we were not able to source elsewhere and which was good quality.

As for the customer service, they were about the same as elsewhere in Chennai as they did not have the alterations done when they said they would. They definitely have a lot staff most of whom don't know all that much about the products but, again, that is the same as elsewhere in Chennai as well as overseas.

Would have to say that we would shop there again and recommend the shop to friends - at least for men's clothes (their shirts are exceptional and MUCH better than Color Plus) as well for Salwars.
Dear Customers, Pls be aware before you step into Moksha as they sell fake stuff. Their customer service is terrible as well. Their stuffs are highly priced and the color fades/color runs etc. I would suggest you shop at either Amethyst or Auroville where they use natural dye and their collections, very classy. Don't get carried away with this lousy shop.
even i bought a saree which is a normal crape saree(Rs 5000) which is available at other stores like kumarans and Rmkv etc lower than the above cost. They are too expansive and force to buy the customers.

Better to avoid shopping there.
