[Resolved]  Ration Card — Delay in Ration Office Work

Bhandup Ration Office is pathetic ! I have been there many number of times and each time it turned my experience turned out to be more disgusting than before. The staff including the Head Ration Officer are very lousy.

Recent Case:-
When I had gone to add my name on 4th April (1st Saturday of the month), they refused taking any applications for addition of new member in my existing ration card, since the proposed new member was an Adult (According to the staff only deletions and additions of children members would be accepted). Can you imagine my disbelief when the staff told me to come with my papers after 15th May 2009. And the reason given was "ELECTION WORK". I want to ask the concerned authorities the following questions :-
1) Is Election work more important than PDS work targetted at the lower income group. Where is the question of a person going to vote, when he does not even have the means to get 2 square meals ?

2) If few officers are sent for election work, can't the others work as before? Yes there will be a delay, but atleast the work will go on. Why are specific types of work being avoided?

3) If there is Election work, and the authorities feel Election work is more important (and I dont know why they should though), why don't they close the entire Ration Office network totally instead of working in parts and pieces? Why should important officers who are required for more important work be sent for election work? Instead the junior staff may be sent.

4) The ration office (atleast the Bhandup one) is out of stock for certain forms (Eg-Form 8 for addition of names) and forces the public to get the form on their own (through internet) and not only that they are asking them to get a 2 rupee stamp fixed to it for validation. In Bhandup the forms are available in a cyber near the Station (which is quiet from the Ration office). Why is any stamp required on a form that is downloaded from the net?

The Bhandup Ration office guys are crazy. They act as if they are doing a big favour to the general public. They should be brought to task immediately.
