[Resolved]  RTO Mumbai — Taxi drivers on taxi stands not ready to take minimum fares

Why they write "For Hire" when it is not for the general public. They take people where-ever they want which is not right. They see n pass by you as if you have done some crime by asking for a shorter route. They will come to know when their kinds will be deprived from such facilities then they will charge on others.

These errant auto drivers need to be taught a good lesson. Whenever there's a strike its so peaceful n no traffic or pollution on roads. So i just wish that there's some kind of action or rule that makes it mandatory for the rickshaws across the city to be driven on a few days in a week. I dont think it should be as difficult for the commuters, after all there are other public transport systems.
Talking about erring, i have a complaint about a rickshaw driver with No.: MH 02 SA 8995, who on 30th May at 06:45 p.m. had the audacity to refuse to take us to Andheri stn.(W). That's because he wanted a passenger upto borivli.
It seems that the next time we wish to go out, we need to ask these idiotic rickshaw drivers where they would like to take us. I request the concerned dept. to take action against the above mentioned driver and others like him who only cause inconvenience to people even in times of so many other work related problems n tensions, and not considering evn the age of the passengers.

There are so many of such incidents taken place with me. Actually this is the everyday story. About which taxi should I complain. The taxi drivers are so rude. They refuse to go to any place is one thing but their way of refusing shows these guys have forgotten the rules.
For the ones who are not aware the rule says a taxi or an auto driver cannot refuse a passenger. In case if they do, they will be fined for it. Further their licenses can also be taken away. But I think it is because of the negligence of the traffic police officials and other authorities and their failure in imposing the rule appropriately that these taxi and auto drivers neglect the rules and do what they feel like.
Recently there was a 1 rupee hike in the taxi meter making it a minimum of 14 Rs. but there was certainly no improvement in the services provided to the commuters.

I remember that day. It was raining heavily. I was at JJ hopital near the flyover. Wanted to reach the Sandhurst road station thats just nearby but takes around 15 mins on foot. All wet and drenched, I asked several of them. Also pleaded them to take me to the station. But not a single taxi driver let me sit in the cab. Let me ask, would any of those drivers do me a favour if they took me to the station. No, it was their duty.Then why did I have to plead them?
Hah! Its monsoon again but no change in the system at all.

I read so many complaints above. This makes me wonder even more. Why is the situation still the same even when there are so many o[censored]s complaining about it.

The RTO officials, perform your duty now and make these guys realise their duty towards their profession.

I would like to complaint about taxi drivers outside Navjeevan colony at Mahim. None of the taxi drivers are every ready to go no matter what the distance is, whether short or long. Even in the mornings we face problems to go to work as all the taxis are booked.Being a taxi stand you expect enough taxis to be there to drop us. Only when we take note of their Taxi Number is when some of them agree to drop us. Their stubborn attitude is a serious concern. It is a humble request if you please
take strict action against them. Thank you

I was trying to get a taxi from Matunga to 60 feet road but nearly 4 taxis refused to ply on 30 June 2010 at 9 p.m. outside Matunga Central Station. The taxi numbers are MH 01 X - 5038, MH 01 AT 1421, MH 01 AN 6995, MH 01 J 7578. My mobile number is [protected]. Please take action against these errant taxi drivers.

on 16th jully at2000 hrs driver refused ply between sewree to dadar giving some silly excuses.
i want rto to take strong action against these ruthless driveres.

Dear RTO officer, I want to lodge a complaint against auto rickshaw driver, i was at ghatkoper west R-city mall there was no auto driver who wre ready to come at vikhroli station.many auto's were standing on road but not ready to come and trying to harass passengers.Every time to get auto we need to compliant to police.trisct action must be taken against such auto drivers who cause immens inconvenience to passengers.

Strict action should be taken.

I have been facing this problem since a couple of months. I dont get autorickshaws from the station to my house. They simply refuse as if they are doing some favour by plying the commuters. Its their duty to do so. The rickshaw and taxi complaint/ helpline number i.e.[protected] is completely ineffective as the message which is conveyed is that there is some technical problem in the system. It is very disappointing to see that the concerned authorities are not doing anything to help the commuters who face this reckless attitude of the rickshaw and taxi drivers day in and day out.

One of the RTO officer should stand in the evening near THe HUB Mall at Goregaon East on Western Express Highway, none of the autos will say yes for the short distance commute to Goregaon Station. It is a nightmare to get auto from this spot upto station.

PUNISHMENT FOR REFUSING / MISBEHAVING WITH PASSENGERS

An auto driver can't refuse to ferry passengers anywhere, whether he is on the auto-stand or not. Complaints can be lodged at the police station, Traffic department or the RTO office and strict action can be instigated.

A fine of Rs 500 and suspension maybe imposed.

To complain about errant rickshaw-drivers, send in the details on a postcard to the RTO, Andheri or call the Andheri RTO on 26362252 / 26319821. The following details are necessary:

1. Vehicle number
2. Type of vehicle (Auto-rickshaw or Taxi)
3. Date of occurrence with time and place
4. Nature of complaint
5. Full name and address of Complainant

I want to lodge a complaint against a Auto Rikshaw Driver MH 02 SA 0437, his meter is running fast. I am regular traveller from Andheri (W) Station to Jivan Nagar off Veera Desai Road. I hired the auto today morning about 10:15. The meter reading was 2.7 without facing any traffic jam. It used to be 1.8 to 2.1. Please, take some action.

I want to lodge a complaint against all the Auto drivers who refuse to travel on meter outside Bandra Station. This is completely illegeal, despite the fares increasing at a alarming rate the Rikshaw drivers dont pity any one all they are concerned about money. I have to search for an auto for around 10 mins and even After that the rikshaw walla does not leave me at the desired place this is because it is always or most times a Sharing Rikshaw. I end up paying the same amount but to my Discomfort

TAXI — More fare from taxi (from dadar to Govandi)

Yesterday,i had picked up taxi from dadar to Gavandi at 1 am.There was problem in meter of taxi,he charged me 450 rupees.
