Have you read the fine print on the back of the certificate? The maturity of the bond could be 5 years or 7 years. There is usually a put-option clause that allows you to apply for redemption after 3 years. But the redemption is not automatic - you have to return the bond certificates duly discharged by signing on the reverse.

i am holding 4 bonds of rec infrastructure bondseries iv .the maturity date is 31/03/2008.i have sent email to [protected]@dimnsioni.net to arrange for refund of matured amount to my bank and they never bothered to reply
sum of rs 20,000 is lying with them

I have been allotted Bond ( unsecurred redeemable non convertable REC long term infrastructure Bond ) on 31 st March 2011 and maturity on[protected]. But even after repeated authorites, No action was taken. As clause of Bond, the money will be credited to my account.
