[Resolved] SASTRA University — SASTRA University demands Rs.2.5 Lakhs to return the School original certificates | |||
Dear Sir/Madam, My son, Sudeep Kumar R, had been admitted to SASTRA University at Thanjavur, Tamilnadu in the month of July 2010 in B.Tech (I Year). We have paid Rs.60100/- to SASTRA University for the same. His Roll No: 45; Register No. 39277. At the time of joining, SASTRA University has taken my son's school original certificates. Subsequently, in August first week, he got a seat at NIT, Trichi under AIEEE counseling and he wanted to join there. When we requested SASTRA University Registrar to return my son's school original certificates along with the fees paid by us, he has refused. On the contrary he has insisted us to pay Rs.2.5 Lakhs to get the certificates. Meanwhile, NIT at Trichi has magnanimously admitted our son by giving us some time to produce the original certificates. Now we are afraid whether we would be able to submit the original certificates to NIT within the stipulated time because of the adamant attitude of SASTRA University. It is a clear violation of AICTE guidelines. When we pointed out the same, the Registrar says that being a deemed university they have their own rules and they are not bound by AICTE guidelines. Now my son's future is at stake. I kindly request your great offices to help us in this regard. Already we have lodged a complaint with Consumer Council at Trichy and Prof.S.Pushpavanam has taken up this matter with SASTRA University. university in thanjavur called as periyar maniammai university is worst, at least satra university has good placements and world class education but this university is totally a village, racial to people from otherstates, the staff teach in tamil and cannot even spea english, the students are credited on the basis of question bank given few days befor exam, before that the whole university sleeps.

I'm a final year student of SASTRA University, and I know many such cases. It is really appreciable that you have raised your voice against it. Back in my 1st yr I had to get my certificates because of getting admission in NDA, but the Registrar(who was the other fellow at that time, a real bad guy) asked for the same from me. I went back to CBSE regional office Allahabad, requested for the duplicate certificate saying that my certificates were lost and I got those back. Finally I was rejected in medical exam and I came back to SASTRA.
