Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

do not go to sooriya hospital dr sooriyakala for delivery. Her claims of yoga, fair trial of normal delivery are only marketing tactics. She attracts patients by this novel method of marketing - to show they are different from others. They charge for normal delivery the same high fee as Cesarean.

She and her asst Dr Dwarak apply forceps and try difficult normal deliveries, to keep up the image, even if this means suffering to the baby by diificult labor , resulting in a condition called asphyxia, due to which baby's brain is permanently damaged by lack of blood and oxygen. Such babies grow up with brain damage and are mental retarded, spastic.

My family child was affected thus, this can could have been prevented by Cesarean. After all, the goal of Cesarean is to save mother's life or to save baby. This needs to be used when needed (though not unnecessarily). I found this is not used for the doctor's ego there. In the physiotherapy where we take our child, 2 other kids with brain damage and fits, due to diificult normal/ forceps delivery there were seen. Then I saw on the internet about a legal case in which Drt Soorya messed up normal delivery by trying too hard, due to which mother's intestines was torn, and she needed 3 surgeries. The Soorya Hospital had to pay huge sum.

Though the NICU was very good for babies care, almost all babies there were from outside hospitals only, and mostly they were Cesarean. We patients must be careful that Cesarean be done when needed to save the baby's brain and future and not believe such doctors.

I too had problem with normal delivery at Sooriya Hospital. If the choice of Cesarean was offered, we would have gone for it. Their own paediatricians Dr Ntesan and Duraiarasan, explained that due to lack of oxygen supply to brain of the baby during difficult delivery, baby got fits. I thought from the way we were counseled that Cesareans are not at all needed, and done by other doctors unnecessarily. When we took the baby to the neurologist Dr V Viswanathan he said that stress to the baby during forceps was the cause of fits. A senond opinion from Dr Sumahi, famous gynecologist at Kilpauk, also revealed that forceps and delaying delivery for 1 hour with head on the perineum was the cause of fits for the baby.

I would not have minded the cost and pain of Cesarean for the sake of my baby. Only now I understand that peresisting with normal delivery is done to show that they are different. Even for normal delivery, charges were very high. More than cost, we want safety for baby. For 3 months baby had fits medicines, but is okay now.. However, we were very stressed, and realized that this is a way of marketing - saying high normal delivery rate and not doing Cesareans that are actually needed.. We chose Dr Sumathi for second delivery - it was normal delivery with no complications. But she honestly told us that if needed she will do Cesarean.

But Dr Venugopal at Soorya Hospital was very good, and so was the NICU services
dr sooriya is a good doctor, who tries normal delivery sincerely
