[Resolved]  SRM University — DAY LIGHT ROBBERY

Address:Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu

Sir,
I am doing my B.tech engineering in SRM university present at Chennai (Kattankulathur). We are very much worried and disappointed about the daylight robbery going on in our institution. All the other prospects and educational aspects of the institution are fairly good, but the actual thing to be noted is the detention fee being collected here. The minimum attendance to be maintained for a subject to appear in the semester examination is 75%, failing which leads to detention on that particular subject. So this makes us to attend that subject either during summer or winter vacations (the whole vacation is gone). But this isn't the grievance complaint. The institution are imposing a huge penalty of Rs. 10,000 PER SUBJECT as the detention fees. But the same penalty for this when we joined the college in 2007 was just around Rs. 800 PER SUBJECT. This new rule have been implemented after we have finished one year in the course. This is really hurting each and every student in the college in big ways. The medical certificates even though they are genuine from reputed hospitals like APPOLO are being rejected , making the student detained. THe worst part is the students should attend only two theory subjects per course and the practical subject could be attended once you have paid Rs.10000 for that also. In all the ways, the institute is ready to mug our money to satisfy the needs for their incomplete buildings and newly upcoming colleges. Already many boards like UGC came across the college for inspection, but nothing seems to have favored us. Kindly pay some attention on my post because we are dying day and night. So we the students of SRM sincerely request the responsible authority to take the necessary action and put an end to this broad light robbery at once..

Thanking you,
Waiting for some actions to be taken,
On behalf of the suffering students from my college,
Yours sincerely,
R RAJESH...

sir,
i have sent my application to the univ on 30th march . but i have not received any reply.
I have never faced this kind of problem at SRM. I'm an ex student of SRM university, I studied BJMC in Ramapuram Campus. The faculty has always been supportive to me. Let me tell you my story, I was in 2nd year and I had to take leave from the college for almost 2months because of Jaundice, but after that the college has accepted my leave application with medical certificate, even the professors also helped me in following up with my syllabus, and I have also attended my practical classes
What ? I'm little shocked! Because i never heard or faced such fee detention thing at SRM. I completed my B.Tech in Civil Engineering. University is quite known for it's reputation, okay forget about the reputation, i was there for 4 years, i never faced any problem. I have only heard about "Annual Career Development fee" which has to be paid for all B.Tech program.
I tried collecting some information about the PGPM course as there is no information available on the university website about the online application in PGPM.so i tried contacting there numbers mentioned in the contact for admission section.I was shocked that even the executives couldnt reply correctly, They gave me another number to contact, And as expected ther gave me one more number.Since i dropped an email regardind this i cudnt received a reply yet. This was not expected from such a reputed univ. There is no one to contact in case of queries and all. They just give to numbers after numbers to contact
