I am doing my B.tech engineering in SRM university present at Chennai (Kattankulathur). We are very much worried and disappointed about the daylight robbery going on in our institution. All the other prospects and educational aspects of the institution are fairly good, but the actual thing to be noted is the detention fee being collected here. I am student of SRM University and from past 2 years have witnessed many irregularities in fees structure.Recently they have again increased their fees structure.I am providing the detailed fees structure and you can make out the difference of facilities provided by this university and other universities.
Tution Fees: Rs.1,50,000 per year
Hostel Fees :Rs.60,000 per year
Book Fees : Rs.10,000 (one time)
Exam Fees: Rs.1600(per semester)
General Fine : Rs.300(per semester)
Alumni Association charges+Degree Scroll charges:Rs.5000(one time)
Placement Charge : Rs.2000(one time)

TOTAL: Rs.8,63,200(which they keep on increasing)

PLEASE note that to overcome this expenditure Students of this university are often indulged in BACK-DOOR Entry process.The Students themselves bring other students from their native place for admission in exchange of the commission provided by some local brokers.
This BACK-DOOR entry also reflects in the merit based admission process where no of seats are reduced to accommodate those admissions.

Various inadequate charges in tution fees - Computer Fees,Sports Fees,Book fees The number of students studying here are approx.18,000.
