[Resolved]  Step By Step School Noida — Unfair charging of fees

The step by step school in Noida is charging a ridiculous amount of fees from the parents under unjustified heads like meal charges even for non-working days, social service that the school does in its name, scholarships fund but no scholarships are given etc. etc. Besides, the school boasts of many excursions and trips for students within the city for 'practical' education, for which they charge extra amount, over and above the already high fees. To top it all, the level of academics in the school is not exactly first rate either and in fact is quite debatable.

I am a parent of VIII standard child I am planning to shift my child from Appeejay to SBS or KRM pls suggest if they are good schools or not
Dear SBS Real Parents,

I am a father of a child studying in of one of the top rated and oldest CIE schools in Mumbai. I am planning to shift to Noida region and I am currently looking at possibilites to continue him with a school where the teachers have adapted well to the Cambridge teaching methodology. I beleive that we all know that CIE is all about developing your child's confidence and developing our children to be an independent thinkers and decision makers when they walk out from school and enter college. Real CIE will give your child an environment where your child will recognize his/her talent by the time they pass grade 8. Gone are the days when parents decide that my child will grow into a doctor or engineer and in reality the child after finishing his higher education realizes that he was born to be an artist, historian or a great manager. Parents have to realize the difference between the traditional indian teaching methodology and cambridge education before they give their child to a CIE school. Most of the Indian parents (including me) have completed their education from CBSE/ICSE schools in India were we were forced to mug up things without much understanding or freedom to develop our interest or talent. Those who think that that kind of education is still the best what we can give to our children then CIE/IGCSE schools will seem to be a Nautanki :). Extra curricular activities and practical knowledge come at a higher cost and CIE is all about real time experiences and interactive teaching methodology. We should be prepared to go an extra mile if we are ready for CIE.

Now, I request SBS parents to give me their opinion about the school keeping in mind what I have written about CIE above.

Please take out 5 mins of your precious time and kindly put some thoughts and recommendations at the earliest.

Best regards,

Posting as anonymous as I don't want to disclose to "many well wishers" that Iam shifting :).
Can anybody tell me why the admissions for the academic year 2011 is closed montessori onwards (as per the site)? The toddlers class has a very narrow eligibility window (2 yrs 3mths to 2 yrs 5 mths). The website has shown the nonavailability of seats since at least 3 months back. Can anybody throw some light on this?

Do they have reserved seats of any kind? and if so what is the criteria there?

On the ongoing debate, well their fee is on the higher side but then there are far worse schools charging far far higher than them. I don't agree that the best education comes at a price as IITs cost less than your average mid of nowhere "Engineering Colleges". Comparing fees with quality of education is naive. But if we pay more we should at least get good facilities (which I believe they have).

SBS parents any insights on the admission conundrum...do write.
Hi,
i am the mother of a 6 year old whoz in standard one in appejay.i had heard a lot about SBS (though i never heard the negative comments like the ones i just read above) and the good quality of education they provide.and i am ready to pay more if thats wort it.
So i need genuine suggestions on SBS and lso i want to know whether SBS will admit my child to standard 2 if applied for.
SBS principal Payal Kapoor along with a bunch of teachers behave very badly with parents. They have zero respect for them. They can really humiliate parents and hardly listen to their grievances.Principal is very partial to the teachers and the other SBS staff.Even the administrative staff is rude and disrespectful. NEVER send your child to this school .
Dear All

Am father of a disable daughter, studying in class III in some other school as of now and we are shifting her to SBS, even for the same we have to shift our residence as well.

Last two year we are in regular touch with the school and we never found anything wrong with the behaviour of staff, everybody is so well behaved, helpful and are ready to spare time to listen to you

As far as fees and other charges are concerned, once the child is IN, will come to know but still it is an indidual matter, i[censored] can't afford, try some other option, DOES anybody sends an invitation to a parent to have a FREE MEAL...

Pls spare atleast schools from these silly things

all the very best to all

All those complaining, did you go to a better school?
You have faith your child, they will do well in a government school as well.
There are far more expensive residential schools all around the country...some of them are exceptionally good...try those if you can afford it...so many parents are coming to India for the excellence in education some schools offer...SBS may not be the best of the lot but it certainly features in the top schools specially in terms of acedemic acheivments...the faculty is excellently trained by those who know their job well.
Have faith and work along with your child.
My ward is studying in DPS Greater Noida since class 2nd.
This year he will pass x std. It is heard that a student is not the member of the school through automatic promotion system.
The fee structure is based on the provision of new admission.and will be charged so called 48000/- it is totally unjustified as the ward should be considered on gradual promotion system and should be charged less .
i dont think this is true...im a student of sbs...nd im really happy with the school...its teachers...principal...disipline...EVERYTHING!...i just love it...
i used to HATE school...i just didnt wish to study...now after coming here...im reallly focused and settled...
earlier...i used to be in apj noida...which was a FILTHY SCHOOL!!...im soo ashamed of that school...i criosly hate it...the teachers used to BASH up students, ...EVEN THE GIRLS!!...
im really happy with step by step noida...and wish to stay here foreeva!!!...:D
There fees are some what exorbitant, no doubt, but I suppose that is the price new schools incur by way of capital expenditure on land & buildings. Older schools probably such as DPS etc. probably got the land for a song & their buidings are fully depreciated. This is basically the reason for huge difference in fees between established & new schools
Its a mith that by paying high fees we will be getting the best for our children. Then how come children from small towns and cities are competing IAS exams and in other fields and doing so well. According to those parents if you pay well and get quality education is nothing just show off or a status symbol. Send your child in any xyz school but its the responsibility of parents and child to look after their studies.
I have been a Mirambika parent all through(for people here who dont know Mirambika, this should be a wake up call to them ! ). I have recently shifted my son to Step by Step in Class XI and I must say that I am very impressed. For a child who has spent 12 years in a free environment od Mirambika, step by step was one of the very few schools in the NCR that we found to be adequate enough for a 'evolved' education.

As far as the fee is concerned, the same amount of fee is charged in schools like vasant valley, so its really your prerogative as a parent to decide whether you can afford it or not !

Our education system is far in need of change, at all levels. So the government schools have to improve their infrasturucture and the private schiools have to shift from this over-the-top approach to a defunct evaluation system.

In the meanwhile, if we have to pay for better systems ..so be it. It is the same as opting for a Fortis or a Max hospital over a govt.controlled AIIMS or a less expensive Batra etc. Take your pick folks !
Has any XII, or X batch passed out from SBS - CBSE stream. It would be really good to know how good the academics is in SBS.
No body is away from critisizm. The school need to minimise it. Some issues like rude ness or attitude can be take care by school immediately. The school at this level is not a charity hence need to minimise such issues. But it is not possible that thete no compliant. Maximum of complaints are of High fee, that is a relative term. If there is hidden charges it can be pointed out.
Well, i am a parent of a 6year old wid a minor learning disability and low IQ i.e 75. He is currently in DPS Mathura ROAD, where she is not doing well. The school only focusses on grades and had no help to offer to me except telling me to work more hard wid my child. There were no counsellars available to talk to. Anyhow, i took eternal couselling and got a phycometric test conducted for my son. The results are that she is little ADHD and low IQ i.e 75 . What has prompted me to write all dis is the fact that i heard SBS caters to kids like my son giving them the patience and the extra time that they deserve as well as relating them main to mainstream education goingon.
is the 11th grade of sbs any good? ive heard only one batch of 11th has passed as yet.
Hi My son goes to Vishwa Bharti sector -28 in LKG. Just 3 months into school my son has started stammering which never was a case in his play school- Little pearls.
Any suggestions or recommendations pls.Im ready to pay any fees if a school doesnt break my son's confidence and gives him enough time patiently. There are 32 kids in his class and 1 teacher.
Whats the ratio in Step by step.
Only reason I send him to VBP school is that its very close to my place.
Pls advice whether I should send him to any intl school.
Thanks- Viks...

Guys stop cribbling...school does not matter but the way o[censored]pbringing in society and being presentable is what matters...
Schools in india charge a lot UNDOUBTEDLY but its again upbringing...
I went to a normal School but surely scored well in exams...if a child has to study he will even in a normal school but if not no school
Can do anything...
SBS, Amity and all so called top schools are mere names, , , Remember all that glitters is not gold...
Thanks
I totally agree with the SBS parent on arguing that the school charging a ridiculous amount of fees. I am a commerce student of class 11th . I have spent quite a few years now at SBS. My parents now have to pay more to the school just because they say they are providing their children with such facilities which other schools don't . They are now going to charge parents on unnecessary thing like the cctv cameras when they charge parents for 4 guards on each floor . The studies here at SBS not that good . The geography teacher teaches us accounts and we cant even protest, our impression is at stake ! The school wants the students to drop maths as they say the students are weak in studies but the reality is that the school doesn't have many maths teachers and is not ready to employ more teachers when they charge us so much already . The school charges us around 700 per day for the days when we dont have the school also. They charge money for 3 AC's in each room while they purposely switch one off (not working will work soon ). I'm not sure about this one - I've heard they charge students of class 4 and 5 for some tablets also (mindspark, maybe ). I love my school but not at the sake of my parents having to fear about my fees . Well the school promotes one for being a strong leader but that's all a lie, the school looks for only its benefits!

Student of class 11(commerce)
please tell me which one is better step by step or genesis global school or the most expensive pathways
