[Resolved]  United Engineers — Poor service and negligence by authorized service centre

My 3 year old washy-talky stopped working on 5th July 2008 so I called up "United Engineers", the authorized service center of Electrolux in Noida. The complaint number being - 25923. The service engineer came for a visit and after inspection, he told me that the main motor needs to be replaced and that would require the appliance to be moved to their workshop. I agreed and the same day they lifted the appliance from my house.

I got the machine back after two days with a bill of Rs 2700/=. While dropping back, the washing machine was not sent along with any technical person but only with the delivery man. He fitted the machine and showed me that the tub was rotating. I was also comforted to see the motor working.

After the delivery man left with the payment, I loaded the machine with two days pending laundry which was enough to fill the tub but the automatic fuzzy logic didn't show the correct configuration according to the load. I had to correct the configuration manually. I tried it several times but the fuzzy logic was not working properly. The problem not being a show stopper I carried on with running the machine with the manual configuration. After the wash was done, it started to rinse and spin the clothes. With the spinning a strange and hideous voice started coming from within the machine, so horrifying that I had to stop the machine immediately.

I immediately called up Mr. Gaurav, the incharge o[censored]nited Engineers to tell him that even after paying Rs 2700, the washing machine is absolutely unusable. He assured me that he will soon send the engineer to check the things. This conversation happened around 2 p.m. and till the end of the day nobody turned up. Meanwhile I followed up with him around 3 times and every time he gave me the fake assurance. Before closing his office he did not even bother to tell me that his engineer will not be able to turn up.

The bottom line is that I have paid a hefty sum of Rs 2700/= for a pathetic repair job in which the service center has not even bothered to test the washing machine after the repair. They repaired one problem only to introduce two more problems. The machine was unusable earlier and is still unusable but the authorized service center has grabbed Rs 2700 from me.

This incidence shows the insensitive and unprofessional attitude shown by an authorized service center of a global MNC. These people deserve to be sued in consumer court.
