Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations [CISCE] — Change and uncertainty in conducting board exams

We received a sudden notification on 19th October that the ICSE class 10 exams have been postponed due to reasons beyond control. This is 3 weeks before the 1st semester boards are to be conducted, while as a parent I am able to reason, it aches to see our children go through the stress and fear over the uncertainty in the format and frequent change in the schedule of the exams. There is already immense anxiety in students due to the covid situation and with the vaccine yet to be made available for children, they anyways feel like they've been neglected by the govt. system and furthermore with the pressure put on them by schools for doing well and meeting the online requirements, they feel over burdened and their situation underestimated. Let's not forget that they are still children and can handle only so much mental and emotional challenges thrown at them. This is a humble request to make concrete decisions and also a request that the internet instability be kept in mind while conducting online exams. Also, please have schools tone down on the pressure they put on children, probably the board is unaware but the schools seem to worry more about the school reputation of scoring at the top than the well being of children. In their language, children request the board and schools to have a heart and soul while making decisions. That being said we are grateful to the board for reducing the portion and bifurcating this academic year into 2 terms. Request your kind consideration for the wellbeing of our children.
