Fortis Healthcare — Not issuing full refund for canceled OPD procedure in response nonexplanation was given

I am writing regarding the refund communication sent in response to my email dated January 3, 2026. A message was forwarded to me through my brother’s phone in India, stating:
“DEAR BHUPENDRA DEVSHI KHONA, YOUR REFUND REQUEST FOR UID 14267934, EPISODE NO11432/26/1115 OF AMOUNT 110468.00 HAS BEEN APPROVED. THE REFUND WOULD BE PROCESSED WITHIN 4 - 7 WORKING DAYS. HOSPITAL: FORTIS HOSPITAL, MULUND, MUMBAI – FORTIS HEALTHCARE.”
While I appreciate the update, the message provides no explanation for why only a partial refund was approved. This lack of clarity is unprofessional and leaves me without essential information about the charges originally billed on December 13, 2025.
I request the following details:
1. A clear justification for approving only a partial refund.
2. A complete itemized breakdown of all charges retained by Fortis Hospital or by Dr. Vipin Dhane.
3. Confirmation of whether any materials, implants, crowns, or consumables were purchased specifically for my procedure.
• If so, I request that these items be handed over to my family in Mumbai, as I have paid for them.
During my visit, I personally met Ms. Tito Mathew, Head of Billing, who was courteous and instructed Mr. Swapnil Pawar to process the refund in the presence of my sister‑in‑law. Given this, I am surprised by the inconsistent communication and the absence of transparency in the final decision.
I also request that all future communication be sent directly to me, either at [protected]@hotmail.com or via WhatsApp at +1‑609‑792‑5567 (USA country code), instead of contacting my brother in India. I have been corresponding with Mr. Swapnil Pawar through WhatsApp and expect the same channel to be used for updates.
I am currently in the United States and facing unnecessary difficulty in obtaining a fair and justified refund. As a reputed healthcare institution with a national presence, Fortis Hospital is expected to maintain transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all financial matters.
Please treat this letter as a formal legal notice requesting a written explanation and a complete breakdown of the charges withheld.
