GHMC — Drainage blockage and no response for the last 10 years from GHMC

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am sure you're thinking the subject line is an exaggeration, but let me tell you that its no exaggeration but a fact. No one helped us in these 10 years to address this issue. My late father as a senior citizen made several trips to the municipality office in Saroornagar and was made promises but none of that has been resolved until date.

Allow me to explain this small situation that has become a problem now.

The sewage man hole outside our house was never constructed well from the beginning, which is permeable to 'goose rats' that keep digging the sewage pit that keeps getting mud into the hole and blocking the sewage pit. As a result, this overflows and we receive a backflow of sewage into our house. Despite repeated complaints GHMC has never addressed to clean the pit or stop the overflow. My family has been cleaning this pit off the mud for more than 10 years now. Yes, we are guilty of keeping our surroundings clean when GHMC has in no way helped us until date. We've reached a tipping point now as more residents have come into the vicinity and no one seems to be bothered with this. Anecdotal thought; I think its only fair for us to start collecting taxes instead of paying GHMC as they do not take on basic civic responsibilities.

I am putting up this on every complaint board until someone in GHMC genuinely takes an interest and cares to help us out, I sincerely wish they do.

P.S. Since September 2021, I've filed 5 complaints and have paid pit cleaners to do the job twice already (one being this morning).
