Others can guess passwords or get into other accounts owned by you using those passwords or variants.

i didn't delete my orkut account but somehow my yahoo email which i used to log in to orkut got deleted due to which i couldn't log in to orkut also. when i tried to it said username invalid. They are sending these spam mails expecting some fools to respond to it and pass on the details regarding themselves. They will follow up these and send you another mail that the funds are ready and to inform them the mode of transfer and will ask you pay a claim processing fee or courier charges fee of some $2500 or some figure like that and you will have to send them that. On receipt of this money they will send you a fake cheque or draft and when you produce it at the bank for encashment, banks will tell you that these are unreliable and I know of another fool who claimed otherwise and the bank told him that they will present the cheque or draft for clearance and to do that you will have to pay the Bank the clearance charges of another huge amount approximately 1% of the amount involved. In short you will lose around 2% of the amount involved initially and at the end, the cheque will be returned to you for lack of funds or the statement that this account is closed or some other reasons. So do not believe these scams and forget about getting quick rich without doing any work. Chums go and do some work and you will get the returns which you can really enjoy.

I completely support the above mentioned complaints and also state that i have also received the same mail with the name of the same person and file no. stating that i have been the lucky winner to receive the money. well, i had the same doubt and so i denied to send my personal information with him or anybody until i have any written proof from them stating that they are thee authorised perosnnels from Google. I thhink that by sending a fraud mail and everything to people on the name of Google they are misusing the reputation and the name of google so they should take some action against such frauds and guilty people.

I hopefully await to see some action taken against this.

i want to know if this is a way of cheating?? i have received a scanned certificate signed by the two co-founder and presidents of google.. are they all fake??

I received the same letter that I have won award of 500000 pounds and pass my personal details. Accordingly, I sent my passport and driving licence details. In response, they have asked me to pay 0.14% of the award amount (that equals to Rs.50, 000) as the Gift Tax to the British Government, then only they will release the cheque.
I also wrote a letter to them that I am middle-class man and I cannot afford but assured them that I will give an undertaking on an judicial bond paper issued by our court that the tax will be paid after clearance.
Even after my request, they are just asking to pay the tax or loose the gift amount.
So, dear agreieved friends like me, please do not believe any of such spam and fake mails, which will waste both your valuable time and money. Keep working hard on your job/work and in return you will get fruitful money and happiness. Keep in mind that you will get nothing without doing anything.

I have received the mails saying that i have won 500000 Pounds, and i gave them my information and then i got to know about the scam. Please handle this, they should not miss use my information. its your responsibilty.

I also have received message at my mobile from TM-DEMO containing the news of winning 500, 000GBP and I was asked to contact with [protected]@live.com.
I was initailly asked to deposit money in the account of Mr. Jeorge Shimray as Non-residencial VAT and I deposited 36000 INR. Then a mail came to me from [protected]@live.com demanding 1, 27000 INR to collect DFC and NTC necessary to release my parcel containing all the award legal documents and Certified Bank Cheque of 500, 000 GBP to FedEx Courier Service. The parcel number referenced to me appeared to be false as I consulted FedEx (only five digit number was given whereas in reality there would be a 12 digit number). How fool I was! Ignoring all these circumstances I made payment to the account number [protected] in Central Chartered Bank. After returning home I tried them by phone but failed. Than I searched for the address of the GOOGLE 10th ANNIVERSARY AWARDS CENTER where I found this web page.
The "http://www.hoax-slayer.com/google-anniversary-lottery-scam.shtml" is another link I found which makes me sure that I was cheated by these Bloody Internet criminals. I am copying the statement from the web page hereunder: "Web users should be very cautious of any message that claims that they have won a large sum of money in a "lottery" or "award" that they have never even entered. Genuine lotteries or prize draws do not operate in this manner. It is highly improbable that companies such as Google would ever participate in a prize scheme based on the random selection of email addresses. I am a student of MBBS from a poor socio-economic family. My parents are patients of heart disease. My mother is suffering from arthritis for last six years and both are above 60yrs. of age. I sold all the ornaments of my mother and the old motorcycle I had, to collect the money. And all gone! The family struggling to gather money for my completion of such an expensive study stream has completely ruined economically by these Criminals.

Name, Address, Telephone no, proof of identity, which i sent. In reply I received a mail saying that some Mr.Ben John Kennedy is comming to India to give me the prize of 5, 00, 000/- GBP interestingly a copy of his passport as well as ID card has been sent to me for reference and told to pay approx $300 towards custom clearance charges at the international airpot to the custom authority to release my consignment. I have also received a copy of awards certificate ans the nos. are REF.CODE:GOOGLE568A2008 File No. G245. All the correspondence has been done with me by Dr.Cemon Mason Director Google 10th Anniversery Awards. Tel [protected], Fax [protected] and he has attached his photo also. If this is a fake thing then how come some people use the logos & trademark of Google so freely. Why Google is not taking care of all these fraudulant thing being done by using their name & logos. This is complete nonsense, even i hve recived the same mail asking me to furnish all details with ID proof to claim my Prize..they even sent an mail regarding person who had alreday left to India from UK and to my surprise i even got a call from from some person claiming to coming from UK and waiting for me at Airport to deliver my consignment against custom payment of 300 Pound. the Number from which i recived a call is [protected].

i know this is Fraud and should be taken a proper action aganist this!!

I received a mail heading Google 10th annivarsary award in which 500, 000 gbp owned by me. Nearly half a dozen emails intimating that I have own lottery amount/award in the name of the reputed organisations luring me and responded. At the end it resulted in asking me money either courier expences, diplomat expences, custom expences and bank transfer charges and instructed me to remit the same in the third party personal account at which stage I stopped responding. Now. google 10th Annivarsary award appearing. Please tell me whether this award is a genuine award sent by real google company or an act of fradulent groups to suck money from the gullible people.

I dont have ny idea about this but really i am shocked to see this all comments, i am thinking that this perticuler is fraud because every person got the mail from diffrent diffrent person, i got same mail from Dr. JEFF ANDY.
When they have domain googlemail then why that people is not using same domain to recive mails. The reason is simple you can create your own mail server by any name, but you can only send mail on internet not able to recive mails on the same address becus of this domain is not registered. Mean-while if you dont have idea then any body can cheat you simply.
they guys are using yahoo, hotmail and all this kind of mail address to reciving mails but they are sending mails from @googlemail.com.
So beware this kind of mails.
