On december 6 dec 2020 i tried to place an order on hm.com but while making payment of rs 2999 for a shoe order my money was deducted but the website got hung. My money simply got deducted without my order going through.
So i contacted customer support with all the proofs i have regarding the purchase. Proof: upi transaction id and screenshot. But they said they can't find my account. After a lot of checking and waiting, they could find my account. And said that i will get my refund in 30 days.
So i contacted again in 31 days. And they told me i have to wait 7 days more as my refund was processed 7 days after my failed transaction.
7 days later i received rs 1, 648.00 refund instead of rs 2, 999.
So i contacted customer service again. And they told me to provide proof that i received the incorrect amount by sending my account statement. As i was uncomfortable sending my full account statement as it had many transactions not related to hm.com i asked if can send a snippet of the statement related to hm.com only. They agreed then i sent the proof.
After contacting about 3-4 more times in 3 days they finally said that it was a technical glitch and i should get a full refund in 30 days.
So i waited patiently for more than 30 days. Today is the 95th day after the failed transaction and they are still holding my money.
Today i contacted them again regarding this issue. And they are again asking me to wait 24 hours for their team to contact me. I have run out of patience so i am posting a complaint here.
Such an unethical business practice holding a buyer's money for 3+ months. It is nowhere written in their policy that they can hold funds for such a long time.
