I am not here to sell or unsell any product, but I want to share my experience of how a mobile company has left me helpless:
1) I bought a HTC Desire 620 mobile, for Rs. 16000 on 13th feb 2015. The mobile is being sold in each town and city of India but has very few service centers. In fact even the capital of CG Raipur, has only collection point and no service center. So when my newly bought mobile (6 month old and new only because it was still covered under warranty) went off and I was unable to start it, I searched for the service center of the company but it didnt have any in my town, Bhilai. Even in raipur they have collection center, so I had to travel to Raipur 40 Kms to send my mobile to Mumbai service center, and I was told that I can recollect my mobile after 14 days.. So, the helplessness started then and there. I borrowed one mobile from a friend to use for 14 days.
2) After 14 days: I called up the call center and was told that I had to pay 12000 Rs. because motherboard of the mobile had been exposed to water as per the engineers of company. It becomes relevant to inform that the cost of mobile was 16, 000 Rs. Two things, the mobile has never been exposed to water and the other it was well under warranty period, the arguments were not accepted as, the engineers (as if they are judge) said that it had been. So, I was told that I need to pay for the motherboard, on my insistence the company rep. told me that he can offer a discounted quotation, which would be sent to my mail. So, the next stage of helplessness
3) Call got disconnected after 50 mins. and multiple holding periods: The helplessness gives way to frustration. The call center person simply disconnects the call when I insist forcefully to give me in writing, what all he has said. He said that they cannot give mails for such issues (i wonder why they verify mail ids at the beginning of each call and I also wonder why they put us on hold after every query of ours, surely they are paid for the number of mins. ). So, now I am left helpless and frustrated and of course feeling cheated. I am sure that the company HTC must have given delight to thousands of customers, but for me there is one strongly distasteful event.
